My number was transferred overnight without consent

That is most ridiculous Christmas present from service provider. Don’t know what to do being cut off the network while abroad and with useless customer service.

 

i have been send the following text

Hi. Just a quick update to let you know your request to transfer your number to your new giffgaff SIM is underway. It should be completed within 24 hours. If this wasn't you, please raise a case with a giffgaff agent here: giff.ly/2DEItsv

 

any advise will be much appreciated

Time to raise the case with an agent. On the face of it this is bizarre  but it may be a spurious computer missive. Better have it looked in to. Go here

@ivant_t hi, there's seems to be a few cases of this happening, the new attack from hackers to access your account in the hope of accessing other sites you use your number with, especially your bank, possibly via PayPal or other means.

 

You have been given advice in the text how to proceed with this, don't waste anymore time and follow up on using that link to report this

Once you have a case number, email complaints@giffgaff.com to expedite it.
You should change your password on your giffgaff account and bank accounts and remove your phone number from your bank accounts to prevent transactions being authorised. Contact your bank and ask them to look out for fraudulent activity too.
