Hi everyone, I am new to giffgaff and when I put the sim in my phone it says sim network pin is blocked and to enter sim network PUK. Everytime i try to do this it says it is unsuccessful but the PUK code is the one i was given! My number has been transferred but I cannot use it. Please can somebody help? I am usually with EE. Thanks!

@chari25927

You probably don't need a PUK as it sounds as if your phone is still locked to EE.

Is your device actually unlocked (or at least locked to O2)? Even an unactivated giffgaff SIM will display signal bars/dots and will not request a 'network PIN', 'SIM unlock code' or display a 'SIM not supported' message on an unlocked phone.

Do you get any signal bars?   No signal bars is a pretty clear sign that the device is still locked to a network other than O2 / giffgaff.

Have you tried / can you please try the SIM in another (definitely unlocked) device? If it works then your device is still locked and you need to either contact the previous network on which the device was used or a good mobile unlocking service.

You will need a new puk code if you entered your SIM PIN code incorrectly 3 times and your phone is locked. You can request for a puk code here https://giffgaff.com/profile/details#unblock-sim

Note: if you type your PUK code incorrectly 10 times it will block the SIM and will need to replace it with a SIM Swap.

I suggest you contact an agent who will be able to advise you.
For any queries try:
ASK AN AGENT: https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/
The easiest thing is to ask an agent & you will get a private answer within 24 hours - usually 3-5 hours. If there are any problems or stop on your phone, they will be able to unlock it & give advice on what to do. You will get the answer online in your account > My Messages on your Homepage/Dashboard.

@chari25927 you are not being asked for the kind of PUK giffgaff can provide to unblock a SIM.

You are being told that the phone is locked to a network other than O2 and that the phone needs to be unlocked to be able to use the giffgaff SIM.

So approach the network to which the phone is locked for the unlock code.
