Will try to keep it short.

I blocked my old SIM card and somehow my dad found it.

My dad then inserted it in my sisters new phone (instead of just getting a new sim) and now her phone is blacklisted!

I have unblocked the SIM card yesterday, however, the phone is still blacklisted.

Someone please help!

Thanks

Hi @fayex38

You'll need to contact a giffgaff agent to remove this bar.

You can contact a giffgaff agent at this link: https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/Phones/Place-or-remove-an-IMEI-bar/form

When you get a response, you should receive a text and email alert telling you. You can view the response either from the bottom of your giffgaff dashboard, or by clicking this link: https://giffgaff.com/support/questions

If you still need help, feel free to reply to my message and mention me @mrjeeves

Thanks,
David

@fayex38

Putting a blocked SIM into another phone would not cause that phone to be blacklisted.

  • What phone does your sister have?
  • Which network's SIM was she using before your old SIM was put in?
  • What happens to make you thing her phone is blacklisted?

A Samsung S8+ and its a o2 phone. I never thought it would be possible because I never gave anyone her IMEI number, but according to some it may be possible. I checked online and it says that it is now blacklisted and o2 confirmed it as well. O2 said that they cannot help me because a giffgaff number was used and they advised me to ask the giffgaff community instead.

@fayex38 when you click on

https://giffgaff.com/support/questions it ought to take you to the agent answer list. You should be able to add to your query.

If  not open a new question here

https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/Phones/Place-or-remove-an-IMEI-bar/form

You said you unlocked the sim yesterday however it will take upto 5 days to receive your replacement sim, did you get it and try in your sisters phone?

The agent will have a note of whether they blocked the s8 phone. If they did and explain your reasons they should be able to unlock within 3 days.

Putting a lost or stolen sim in a phone should not blacklist it. How do you know it has been blacklisted?

@fayex38

What is the history of her O2 phone?

  • When was it purchased?
  • Was it new or used?

What SIM card was used in it last?

When is the last time it was used successfully?
