@colinfielding1970 Try switching your phone off for a few minutes and then switch it back on again to refresh the signal and hopefully your phone will work again. If that does not work go to https://giffgaff.com/coverage-and-service and check for any faults or maintenance work that maybe affecting the service in your local area.

If it is an intermittent fault then it could be with the network and they just haven't identified it yet (so check the status page or status.o2.co.uk and it may be listed later) - if you are only having the signal problem in one area then that's probably it (i.e. if you are going shopping or out later today and find your phone works there then its an issue with the mast near your home).

Alternatively, it could be an intermittent fault on your phone - anything from the phone is breaking and will stop completely one day through to theres just a bit of dust between the phone and the sim (so take your sim out, clean it with a dry cloth, blow inside the phone and put the sim back in then reboot and you never know it may fix it!) - trying your sim in another phone will also help prove this.

hi @colinfielding1970

So do you have 'no network coverage', or 'full signal'?
If you have full signal bars, then basic calls / texts should work.

Please check / try the following and report back in detail:

• Can you text normal mobile numbers?

• Network / mast issue
Try to verify with other local O2 / giffgaff users around you if they are experiencing similar problems, as signal checkers are only guides

• SIM issue
Test your giffgaff SIM in another unlocked phone. If the same SIM does not work in multiple devices, then you may have a faulty SIM. You can order a new SIM or find a spare inactivated one, and do a ‘SIM swap’: https://giffgaff.com/support/sim-and-number/change-your-sim. Your number / goodybag / credit get transferred to the new SIM so you don't lose anything.

• Phone issue
Test different known working SIMs in your phone. If all SIMs get no signal in the same device, then there could be a potential problem with your handset.
