O2, calls and texts monitored (including GiffGaff and tesco)

I'm not sure how much traction there is too this story but I heard on the news and from 10 different people that O2 calls and texts are monitored and aren't secure to outside parties listening or reading! And this includes GiffGaff and tesco! As you can imagine this is shocking to say the least, is it true

well to be honest, it doesnt matter what network that you are on, all lines are monitored by computers by the government.

this is down to a matter national security, the programs running, check messages and calls for keywords related to criminal and terrorist activity

at the end of the day, you have nothing to worry about if you are not doing anything illegal so just go on as normal, or quit using a phone and the internet so that you cannot be monitored

This was the goverments plans anyway, and after the announced up poped giffgaff, but so what if you have nothing to hide then whats the problem?
