Hi nfc85,

To keep your number and move to a MicroSIM or NanoSIM, you should have completed a SIM swap, this is where you can use another SIM if you have one to swap it to a smaller SIM, etc. Sadly numbers cannot be transferred to another giffgaff account.

To perform a SIM swap, follow this video guide by giffgaff community member flaxvert: http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Blog/How-to-use-SIM-swap-to-transfer-your-number-from-one-card-to/b...

As for your other newly activated SIM - You could either keep this as a spare, or get another family member on board so you both can take advantages of giffgaff to giffgaff free calls and texts.

Also - I've asked an educator to remove your personal details from your post - As this is a public forum.

You can just order a replacement sim so that all your accout, credit and number are transferred instead of opening a new account

Transferring details from one SIM to another can be performed by using the SIM swap

facility.  See here

You will then be able to transfer your giffgaff account including your phone number,

credit etc from your old sim to your new sim.

hello,

quickest way it a sim swap it takes 10 mins!

SIM Swap allows you to transfer your giffgaff number to a brand new SIM card (including existing goodybags and credits).

How does SIM Swap work?

SIM Swap is the operation of replacing your existing SIM with a new SIM card. Before you start, you need another SIM, which has never been activated. If you don't have an unactivated SIM at hand, you can order a new SIM of any size here.

Here is the method to perform a SIM Swap.

  1.  Back-up all your contacts and texts saved on your SIM to your phone memory, as these data cannot be transfered through SIM Swap.
  2. Log out of your giffgaff account, and click "Activate SIM" on the home page.
  3. Enter the Activation code of the New SIM card.
  4. When on the account registration page, instead of registering, log in with the link in the "already registered?" section.

This is where SIM Swap starts. It will confirm that you want to swap SIMs. (You need to double check the serial numbers, just in case.)

5. After choosing "Yes" each time you are asked, your old SIM will be deactivated, and you will lose signal.

6. Put the new SIM in your phone, and it  takes around to 10 minutes  for the SIM to become active.

The best is to leave the phone turned off with the new SIM in for 10 minutes, then turning it on and off until you get signal.

7. You have completed SIM Swap! Enjoy.

Can I use SIM Swap to replace my lost / stolen SIM?

When you lose your SIM card, you'll want to find the quickest solution to have your number back and SIM Swap looks like the best road. It is possible only if you meet the two following conditions:

  1. You don't need to bar your phone
  2. You are doing it through the Lost & Stolen page only

If you don't match these two conditions, you must order a replacement SIM through the Lost & Stolen procedure As soon as you ordered a replacement SIM, you must not attempt to perform a SIM Swap.

If you try to perform a SIM Swap before receiving the replacement SIM, you will block the procedure and none of the SIM cards will work. In this case the procedure needs to be reactivated by the technical team, which will take longer than waiting for the replacement SIM to be delivered.

  Additional information

  • You can only do a SIM Swap between 4:30am and 9:30pm.
  • Once started, SIM Swap is non-reversible.
  • If you are unable to see the first 6 numbers of the SIM serial number on a nano SIM - it will always be 894411 & must be entered along with the visible numbers on your SIM.
  • SIM activation code of existing SIM on your account can be found by entering the SIM serial number into theSIMchecker tool.
