My phone was stolen and I wanted to know how to change my new giffgaff number to my old giffgaff number. I need a pac code but when I call 43431 it says sorry I'm leaving the network.  How do I resolve this I just want my old number back!!!

Hi @raage92

Please bar your SIM and Phone. You'll then get sent a new SIM in the post.

To bar your phone and SIM, follow these instructions:

1. Please go to this URL: https://giffgaff.com/support/lost
2. Select 'Bar my phone & SIM'. (This prevents anyone using your SIM. It also prevents your phone being used on any UK Network and being sold.)
3. Choose 'Bar my phone & SIM' again. (This will send you a new SIM via 1st Class Post to use in a new phone of your choice. It should arrive within 1-3 working days.)

This will also suspend you giffgaff account to prevent unauthorised charges. This suspension is lifted once you activate the replacement SIM on your account. THIS SIM IS THE ONLY WAY TO REACTIVATE YOUR NUMBER!

If you find your phone again, you'll need to contact a giffgaff agent to get the device bar removed here (it can take a few days): https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/Phones/Place-or-remove-an-IMEI-bar/form

If you still need help, feel free to reply to my message and mention me @mrjeeves

Thanks,
David

You can disable and even wipe the phone if you have a Google account or Apple account,

Apple,

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/explore/find-my-iphone-ipad-mac-watch

If you can nip out you can buy a Blank GiffGaff sim-pac and do a Sim-Swap.This will be faster and better than reporting the phone stolen unless you need to for insurance purposes but may also be able to do this even after using Google/Apple sites.

I'm too impatient to wait for a free Sim so..

buy one for less than a pound at B&M/Poundshop/Tesco/Argos/Iceland and even my Corner shop sells them now and do a,"Sim Swap".Do NOT activate the New Sim e.g put any money on it is as a Blank unused Sim is needed for a Sim swap and the Sim-Swap process will activate the new Sim.

A lot of these shops are open Sundays until 4pm and 8pm weekdays.

https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/What-is-SIM-Swap/ta-p/7320084

and here's an easy to follow video,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1QoXIl6xEM

you can only do a SIM swap between 4.30am and 9.30pm and it can be like when you first join GiffGaff e.g shut the phone down for a few mins and or keep restarting the phone over a few hours after the Sim Swap.

This will transfer your number and allowances across.

@raage92

You cannot transfer your old number to another SIM that has its own number already.

You have a couple of options to get your old number back:

  1.  Report your phone and SIM lost (link)
    Click to reveal
    • The missing SIM will be barred immediately and your account will be suspended. A replacement SIM will be sent out.
Activate the replacement SIM when it arrives to get your number / account working again.  No other SIM will work
    • The missing phone will be barred immediately
If you recover the phone you have to ask an agent to remove the IMEI bar - this will take up to 5 working days.
  2. Report just your SIM lost (link)
    Click to reveal
    • The missing SIM will be barred immediately and your account will be suspended.  A replacement SIM will be sent out.
Activate the replacement SIM when it arrives to get your number / account working again.  No other SIM will work
    • The phone will not be barred
  3. Do a SIM swap (link) using an unactivated SIM you already have (you can buy one locally for £1 or less)
    Click to reveal
    • The missing SIM will be barred immediately. Your number will transfer to the spare SIM within a few hours.
    • The phone will not be barred
I do not work for giffgaff, so cannot check anything on your account. This is a public community - please do not post any personal info.

Hi @raage92

Sorry to hear about your phone. Smiley Sad

PAC code is only required when transferring your number to another, external telephone provider. You do not required a PAC code to transfer withing giffgaff.

To block your sim, please go here: https://giffgaff.com/support/lost

Once you've blocked it by reporting it lost or stolen, giffgaff will automatically send you out a replacement sim in the post which will have your original number and any credit will also be transferred to your new sim when you receive it.

The replacement sim will look like this:

I hope this helps! Smiley Happy

Hello @raage92

All you mainly have to do for this situation is perform SIM card swap to merge/migrate all your account details including your number to a new SIM card (or report the old SIM card lost/stolen and then perform a SIM card swap), then you will be good to go again. I'm also very sorry to hear your phone/SIM card has been stolen from you. Smiley Sad That's not very nice to hear. Smiley Sad

Hopefully you get this sorted. Smiley Happy Good luck! Smiley Happy
