My iPhone has stopped making or receiving actual phone calls, but is still sending and receiving texts.  Would be grateful for any suggestions. I turned off auto top-up yesterday and asked Giffgaff to bar premium rate numbers as had unsolicited payment taken from airtime by JAmmit scam - could this possibly be related??

Thank you in advance.

@slmuk
If calls i suggest you check the signal in your area by following this link https://giffgaff.com/coverage-and-service for the network status or coverage. The network status should give you details of any local issues, including planned work, as well as showing signal strength & outages.

Please remember that the website is updated hourly and may not display any issues at the current moment. If the signal looks all good then you can perform a manual roam Please check out this http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/Force-the-change-of-SMS-settings/ta-p/4871794 guide on how to perform a manual roam.

Also please turn off your mobile device off for a couple of minutes and on again to see if that helps.

Nooo! Don't bar premium rate numbers to stop Payforit scams. It won't work, but will stop you seeing the texts telling you about the charges.

'Payforit' subscriptions are not strictly premium texts, although they are shown as such on your GiffGaff usage statement. 'Payforit' charges are applied directly to your account by a 'third party' which has acquired your phone number. GiffGaff make no check that you have consented to these charges, and refuse to allow you to bar them.

@slmuk You need to call Jaammit and ask them to bar your number and request a full refund of monies taken.

@slmuk I am not sure what the cause of your phone not working for calls, however the matter of the JAmmit text sounds like a payforit scam. If that is so blocking premium rate numbers won't help and deleting and blocking the number from JAmmit will only make it more difficult to sort out.

If you don't contact the payforit company and request to be unsubscribed and refunded the fee will continue to be applied to your phone number. Not your giffgaff account but the number so if you are to change provider the accumulated fees will follow you.

A good source for finding out about these things is"payforit sucks" just put it in your search engine. There are a number of posts on the forum if you search for payforit, that detail all aspects of this problem.

Finally there is this in labs that could benefit from votes to help put a end to the problem for all of us using giffgaff
