Runaway data!

I never use all my data allowance, but yesterday I ran out a week early so I renewed my £12 4G goodybag. Today I received a text to say I have used 80% of my data allowance, in one day!!! My goodybag renews on 22 September. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't understand it at all, any ideas anyone? I'm scared to turn my data on!

Hi,

Check to see if you have any background apps running. Close all apps which you are not using.

Check your usage dashboard here: https://giffgaff.com/dashboard Scroll down to bottom of page and you will see the link and code for usage dashboard.

It could be that it just got used up really quickly perhaps. You can use your credit for data until your goody bag is set to renew if you want

Depending on what phone you have, it might have built in data counters? If it has, have a look to see which app or apps are using all of the data

Hi @caroleves

You probably have a few apps that are using your data in the background without you knowing. The best way to find out which apps are using it, go to settings, mobile data and usage to view a which apps used what.

Yes , I also have had this problem.
I put it down to recent change to 4g but can't see any app using anything like that much data.
I'd be interested to know what is happening too.
