A friend arrived from abroad recently. I ordered a giffgaff SIM in case she needed it thinking it would be here in tons ot time. I was going to post it to her hotel in northern UK so it ws ready for her, activated. I had an email from giffgaff to say it had left the warehouse on 22 April (2 days after placing order). Only today, 7 May, did it arrive. I see it is in a junk mail format (not the origami envelope mine came in), and I wondered if that was why it was delayed so.

Anyway, it's not longer required as my friend got a Lebara SIM here, which suited her for calls home as well as within UK. Should I return it to you or hang on to it in case someone else wants it (not likely though).

OK. If I were to activate it, would I get the (£5 is it?)? If so would it need credit adding (can't remember if this happens at the same time).

OK thank you. In that case I'll just sit on it. Is there a time after which the SIM becomes unactivatible?

No sorry, what I mean is if I leave this new SIM i got today, originally intended for my friend, in the packet, not activated, is there a time after which it willl not be possible to activate it (say I find a user for it in 3 months time).

Essential I believe SIM cards last about 6 months so if you don't activate it after this time I don't think you can.

Same process if you activate a SIM card if you don't call or text on it for 6 months they disable it and recycle the number.

That's my understanding.
