Hi, I have received a text informing me I have joined a wiz play weekly competition service costing £4.50 per week until I text STOP TO 65003. I have tried repeatedly to do this but message continually fails. I have not given any personal details, but it am concerned that the scam will claim money from my giffgaff account???? I have blocked the number on my phone as a security measure. Could you please advise best way to proceed?the helpline number on the text was 08081433707' which is a premium rate number, which I feel will be very expensive?

Hi there @robbiep4
Unfortunately you'll need to add airtime credit to your account to send the word stop, then the texts will stop automatically.
Please check out this guide here

And I've just found you this fantastic guide here

The reply to them will cost 10p so you will need credit to send it. send STOP to 65003

Also blocking their number will not stop you being charged the £4.50 weekly charge, so keep your credit running low and they cannot take the payment then.

You should never block shortcode numbers
So unblock that now
Several reasons for this. It doesn't stop the deductions happening. So your crefit is deducted but you don't know which number delivered the charge
If you text the word stop to the number to cancel a subscription. You don't receive rive a reply confirming cancellation

Call the 0808 number Now (it's free to call)
There's an option to unsubscribed by keying in your number

And call back in office hours (mom to Fri) And speak to customer services. Ask for Co formation that call owing subs ripping will be wrote as you never knowingly signed up to anything
