Hello,

Sorry, I know there are many topics like that and all of them have support and answers but none of them actually helped me.

Basically, I got a replacement phone HTC One Mini 2 from vodafone and put in my SIM card and it asked for SIM network unlock PIN. So the guy in vodafone shop gave me a code, which didn't work and he said it was supposed to work. Then I went to another shop and they gave me the first code I used for my first phone (before I got the replacement one) and that didn't work either.

He told me to contact giffgaff and get the unlock code from them because it's not vodafones fault. Do you know how do I get that code?

Thank you so much!!! Its a nightmare.....

Hi there @bumtbumt
Unfortunately it means that your device is locked to another network other than the 02 network.
For your device to work on giffgaff, you'll need to make sure that your device is definitely unlocked onto the O2 network , giffgaff runs on the O2 network, and there ARE a number of ways that this can be achievedSmiley Happy.

You CAN take your device to any phone shop or market stall , and have your device unlocked on the O2 network , for a small fee, usually around £20, depending on the make and model of your device.
There is an unlocking service for most devices, and there are also many websites than CAN unlock your device, and maybe for FREE,so shop around.

Please firstly check out this link here

Also look for your device by clicking onto this link here http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Unlocking-Discussions/bd-p/unlock-comments

Please also check out eBay, because there are some really fantastically low priced unlocking services for almost every device ,which is nice isn't itSmiley Wink .

@bumtbumt

Sadly, very poor advice from the numpty in the Vodfone shop.

The code request means that your phone is still locked to Vodafone and you need to contact them to get it unlocked (or try a decent localmobile phone shop).

Hi,

If your phone is locked I am about to talk you through everything there is to know. The reason some phones are locked is because they are locked by the network you bought them from. They do this as they want you to stay with them. Just to let you know that giffgaff do not lock and of their phones and they are all sold unlocked. Smiley Wink
There are many ways you can get a phone unlocked. You can ask the network provider you bought it from for an unlock code then just type that into your device.
Also giffgaff have their own unlocking service which is great as it shows you all the options that are available to you. You can check that out here https://giffgaff.com/unlock
eBay also is another option you can sometimes get codes for 99p!
So I hope I helped you and you get your problem sorted soon! Smiley Wink

As giffgaff do NOT lock phones then they can NOT provider unlock codes.

Take the phone into Vodafone and complain. See what they say.

If they say it's giffgaff who should unlock then sorry but you will have to speak to O2 as phones "licked" to giffgaff are actually locked to O2

Hi,

If your phone is locked to vodafone, you'll need to deal with them, I'm afraid.  Giffgaff don't lock phones, so it'snothing to do with them.  If Vodafone can't or won't help you, you could try eBay for a code or a phone shop, but the shops tend to overcharge.

Hope that helps Smiley Wink

As I said you need to contact either Vodafone or a decent mobile phone shop to get your HTC One unlocked.

I knew that all those vodafone advisors are stupid and useless!!! It's so frustrating because they gave me two codes and none of them work and why should I buy one online if I paid for one in vodafone already! SO ANNOYING

Hi again,

I've just checked eBay and here's some sellers who say they can unlock your phone for you -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unlock-HTC-One-Mini-2-Unlocking-Code-Sim-Network-Lock-Pin-Fast-/2715790869... (£1.99)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HTC-ONE-X-XV-S-M9-M8-M7-DESIRE-612-510-ONE-MINI-2-AND-OTHERS-HTC-UNLOCK-CO... (£1.99)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unlock-Code-HTC-One-M8-HTC-One-Mini-2-Vodafone-UK-Unlocking-Code-Fast-Serv... (£2.49)

I have no link to any of the sellers, so I'd advise checking their feedback before buying.

If you've paid vodafone for a code and it hasn't worked, I'd ask for your money back.

Hope that helps Smiley Wink
