I have activated my sim and topped up but it says emergency calls only on my phone

As you have just activated then this takes upto 24 hours to complete however it can be sooner, so please wait a little longer and you will soon be up and running….please restart your phone every hour or so…

The SIM card usually activated within 30 minutes however, can take up to 24 hours during busy periods. You can check if your SIM has been activated by logging in to My giffgaff page here .

You should see your new giffgaff number , username and your airtime credit and/or goodybag. If you see these the SIM activation has completed.

You can also turn your phone off and on again periodically during the process. If the SIM is not activated after 24 hours contact a giffgaff agent so they can verify the status of the SIM activation.

Glad to read this post as I just activated mine about half an hour ago and can’t find out what my phone number is lol. (Yes I’ve looked on my dashboard ) but after reading this I’ve checked if I can text etc and can’t, so now know to just wait up to 24 hours and it should be sorted. Thanks
