Sim deactivated

Can no longer make calls or send messages but have data. Dashboard is saying that have to register my sim but I have been a customer with the same sim for years. Even when I go on to register my sim it says it has been reported lost or stolen and I have done neither.

@scotch999 Message the agent about possibility that your account may have been accessed by someone else, explain everything as you have gone here and they will look into this for you

@scotch999 if Sims not been used in last 6months it's deactivated due to non usage as shown here sorry number recycling on giffgaff https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Blog/Recycling-mobile-numbers-giffgaff/ba-p/8211666

 

If your using  the giffgaff app logout and use phones browser or one like chrome Firefox or opera mini and see if works then

is this a new phone to you @scotch999 thats how phones that have been blacklisted go.

Hi @scotch999

It sounds like your account has been compromised, this method is used to take control of your phone number then try to gain access to bank accounts.

 

I suggest you start by checking all your details on your giffgaff account and making sure they are correct

You can change all your personal details online, just log in, head to "My giffgaff", and then to the "My profile & settings" tab. There you can change the following details:

Make sure that this information is correct at all times or you may not receive emails from giffgaff (e.g. if you forgot your password) and the SIM cards you ordered.

 

Once you have checked these change your password to the account.

 

Then you will need to get a new lost/stolen sim card as this is the only sim you can use to reactivate your account.

 contact an Agentwho will then re-order you a new one.

Thanks for reply,. I suspected something suspicious was going on. Should not get any joy if it is. Don’t use phone for any banking/payments.
