A network pin means your phone is not unlocked I'm afraid

It needs to be unlocked or an O2 phone to accept a Giffgaff SIM

Please remember to choose a 'BEST ANSWER' Where you received one & give a little KUDOS to those who helped :-)

This is the pin code you will need to unlock the network.

5555 or 6666

No, these are not network unlock codes, that will need to be obtained from the original network provider, or perhaps via an unlocking company.

Which network is it locked to?

Method 1:

1 - Switch ON your Samsung Galaxy S3 with a NOT ACCEPTED SIM Card.
2 - Samsung Galaxy S3 will ask for "Password".
3 - Enter the Unlock Code.

OR (if the Samsung Galaxy S3 shows "Insert Correct SIM Card")

Method 2:

Your galaxy s3 would appear to be still locked to a network. It needs to be unlocked for it to work with a giffgaff sim (or locked on O2).
