Hi all I left the country and lost my sim. Have ordered a new one so as to meet me on my return. I followed the instructions to use my same number and replace my old sim doing a sim swap and still my phone says sim not found. I have asked an agent no response yet so thought some one else could help me. I have an good bag I purchased while I was away so my sim has a brand new goody bag waiting to be used.

@natz1986 the issue that needs dealing with is the fact that the phone doesn;t recognise the sim.

As I said, even an unactivated sim should be recognised.

the only reasons for a phone not recognising a sim are;-

faulty sim

phone locked to another network

dirty sim

as you've already tried cleaning it, do you have another unlocked phone you can try the sim in?  Also do you have (or a friend) a giffgaff sim you can try in your phone?

EDIT: just saw your latest reply.  Probably a faulty sim then Smiley Sad

You'll need another sim by the looks of it.

Hi,

You Must Perform a Sim Swap.
A sim swap is the process of moving your number and your balance also your existing goodybag/gigabag to another giffgaff sim.
You could need this if you lost or have broken your sim or if you are getting a new phone.
Here is how to do it. Smiley Wink
1: Back up any contacts or anything that may be stored on the sim that you want to keep.
2: Visit the replace your sim section here https://giffgaff.com/profile/details#simswap
3: Enter the 6 digit activation code of the new SIM card, and click 'Continue'.
4: Select yes for you to commence sim swap. Then select yes I’m sure. This may take anything from a few minutes to 24 hours. This is normally around 30 minutes.
5: Put the new SIM into your phone. Turn the phone off/on at 30 minute intervals until you get signal and the SIM starts working.
6: Enjoy! You have successfully completed sim swap!
If any more information is needed then here is a guide http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/What-is-SIM-Swap/ta-p/7320084

Hope this helped! Smiley Wink

If you have lost or damaged your simcard you can perform a free simswap,  simswap is a system which is used to replace a simcard with another one, you will keep your existing phone number and credits or goodybags, please note that other data (e.g. contacts & texts) are not transferred, so make sure to save them before you start:

See full simswap guide below link:

https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/What-is-SIM-Swap/ta-p/7320084

New activations allow the simcard to fully activate it takes from a few minutes and upto 24 hours to fully activate a simcard, keep restarting the phone every 30 minutes or so:

If your activation is still ongoing after 24 hours, you can contact an agent.:

Hi @natz1986 the phone should recognise a sim whether it is activated or not, try removing it and giving it a clean and reinserting it, switch the phone off for 5 minutes while you do it too Smiley Wink

did you report the sim lost?

Hi,

Is the goodybag you purchased displayed on your dashboard at the moment?

Is the correct phone number showing on your dashboard?

I did not report sim lost as I read instructions online says I didn't need to do so if I had a sim from gift gaff on hand and could just do a sim swap. I have removed battery several times and sim. I have cleaned I have blown and it still dosnt see it. I tried some one elses sim and my phone sees it so it's not my phone
