Hi there @tinaandjim

Yes you can keep the same number.

All you need to do is a simple sim swap.

If you need a new SIM order from here

https://giffgaff.com/orders/mgm

All newgiffgaff SIMs are 'trio' SIMs (Mini/Micro/Nano in one just push out the bit that you need to fit your phone) and are 4G/3G/2G compatable.

When it arrives, you will need to perform a simple SIMswap.

SIMswap does not work between 21:30 and 04:30 each day.

Your current number and any goodybag / credit will transfer as part of the process.

Don't forget to back up any contacts on your SIM as these do not transfer as part of the process.

Hi,

First check your existing SIM as you may be able to pop out the micro SIM.

If not order a new SIM from your account and once you get it you need to do a SIM swap and everything will move from you old SIM to the new one ( except your contacts ).

A SIM swap is easy to do and normally takes a few minutes.

Cheers

Hi you need to perform a proccess called a sim swap this will enable you to retain all account details (number, balance, goodybag)
Only the sim will change

If you don't have a spare sim, order a (free) one now
Http://giffgaff.com/orders/mgm
Or
obtain from a nearby store several stock them including Tesco, Sainsbury's and argos cost is a £1 or less

Before you perform the sim swap back up your contacts if they're saved to the sim

Log into your my giffgaff page
Http://giffgaff.com/dashboard
Check you're in the correct account
(important if you have several accounts or manage accounts for others)

Then click here
Http://giffgaff.com/activate

Input the 6 digit activation code from the new sim in the box provided and
click the yellow activate your sim button

On the next page headed "SIM replacement "
click the yellow button
"yes I want to replace my sim"

On the next page headed "SIM replace"
click the yellow button
"yes I'm sure"

Your new sim will usually start working within 30 minutes
(switch your phone off and on every 10 minutes or so)

Hi there, firstly check whether you can push the "micro" part of the sim out of your current sim. All sims giffgaff have sent out in the last few years have been 3in1 type
If it is an old style normal size only, then you can perform a sim swap - please see here

Hi @tinaandjim

Not to worry! Smiley Happy This is possible!

You can get a new sim here: https://giffgaff.com/orders/mgm

Giffgaff sims are 3 in 1 so will also contain a micro sim.

Alternatively, you can pick a sim up from Asda, Iceland, Tesco's or Poundland if you're in a hurry.

Once this sim arrives, you need to perform a process called sim swap.

SIM Swap is the process of replacing your existing SIM with a new SIM and moving your existing number, allowances etc. to a new SIM.

Please note: You can use any unactivated SIM card to perform a SIM Swap. SIM Swap is only available between 4:30 AM and 9:30 PM.

To perform a SIM Swap once you receive your new sim:

  • Back-up any contacts, texts and other data saved on your current SIM to your phone memory or PC, as this cannot be transferred through SIM Swap.
  • Login and go to the Replace your SIM section of your account and click on Activate your SIM.
  • replacement image.png

    • Enter the 6 digit activation code of the new SIM card and click "Activate your SIM"

    SS 1.png

    • This is where SIM Swap starts. You'll be told that you are about to carry out a SIM swap. You can make sure that the new SSN codes match the new SIM (it is the code on the back of the sim card). All good? Then, press "Yes, I want to replace my SIM"ss3.png
    • You will then be asked if you are sure you want to do a sim swap. Click "Yes I'm sure" to complete the process.SIM SWAP.png
    • Once you have pressed "Yes I'm sure", you will be taken back to My giffgaff where your dashboard will look like this. Once the SIM is fully activated your phone number, goodybag and airtime credit will show.

    dashboard after activation.png

    • Put the new SIM into your device. Turn the device OFF/ON at 30-minute intervals until you get a signal and the SIM starts working.
    • You have completed SIM Swap! Enjoy.

I hope this helps! Smiley Happy
