I have got myself in a tizzy. Bought a Giffgaff phone late November as Xmas present for wife.

So I could prep it for her I also got a new SIM card and activated it and loaded the apps she needed.

I presented the phone at Xmas and after all the joy and in ignorance proceed to remove the sim from her old phone. Oops it's not a nano.

Checked out what to do and asked Giffgaff for a replacement, got it and activated that.

Am I able to get the swap done as the guidance appears to be I need an unactivated SIM.

Check to see if your present Sim can Pop-out a,"Nano Sim".

You can order sim-Triple Pack free.

I'm too impatient to wait for a free Sim so..

buy one for less than a pound at Wilkos/B&M/Poundshop/Tesco/Argos/Iceland/ASDAand even my corner shop sells them now and do a,"Sim Swap".Most of these places are open until 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am til 4pm Sundays/Bank holidays.Do NOT activate the New Sim the normal way e.g don't put any money on it as a blank unused Sim is needed for a Sim swap and the Sim-Swap process will activate the new Sim.

and here's an easy to follow video,

you can only do a SIM swap between 4.30am and 9.30pm and it can be like when you first join GiffGaff
e.g keep restarting the phone over a few hours after the Sim Swap.

This will also transfer all your number/calls/text and data allowance across and disable the old Sim-Card
so it can't be used.

Or you can go to any local Phone shop(Not Carphone Warehouse as they charge too much) and they have templates to cut the sim down for around a pound.

Or if you want you can have a go yourself to cut one down,

Thanks for the reply. I have an unactivated SIM. In the help section for swap headed up "things to do before starting the swap" I am required to cancel the active PAC code, presumably on the existing/original phone.
Whilst there are links to take you to where you can do this there dose not appear to be a heading to select to enable me to cancel the active PAC code.
Is any of this making sense.

If you need a new number or simply want to change the size of your SIM?
You will need to perform a sim swap

Order yourself a new sim using this link

When your new SIM arrives, you will need to perform a simple SIMswap.
Your current number and any goodybag / credit will transfer as part of the process.
Don't forget to back up any contacts on your SIM as these do not transfer as part of the process.
it can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 24 hours
If you then want a new number head over to your profile and you can change it there by submitting a 'Get a new Number' request.

Hope that this helps you.
