I am currently using a giff gaff SIM with a Samsung GT-S5670. I have bought an unlocked Iphone 4s, am I able to use my current SIM or do I need to order a new one and transfer the number or do a SIM swap?

Hi @acwallace

Just order another sim from your spread page

when the sim arrives you will need to perform a sim swap See here on carrying out a sim swap.

you will then keep your current number, credits and/or goodybag. The swap should take no more than 30 minutes.

The iphone 4s takes a micro sim.
Have a close look at your current sim, the micro sim pops out of the standard sim.
You can order a new sim from
your spread giffgaff link on your giffgaff dashboard,or use the link below.

or If you have a spare sim at home,

If you need a sim urgently, some members will deliver, or you could pick one up locally. Click the link below.

You can now activate a new sim if you loose one or it is damaged, or you need a micro or nano sim, by doing a sim swap.

If your contacts are saved to your sim, back them up first.

1 Log out of gg
2 Click activate a sim
3 Enter the 6 digit code on the sim card.
4 Click continue
5 I the already a member section, enter your username and password.
6 Log in
7 Click yes I want to replace my sim
8 Click yes i'm sure.
Thats it. Your gg number, and account details will be transferred to your new sim.

Also. Here are the gg iphone settings.

Gg iphone settings.

For iphones running IOS 7.1.1
See the link below to install the giffgaff settings.

For older phones running an IOS below 7.1.1

Go to this link
And it will install the settings for you.
Note. Reset the settings before you start. And do not use the giffgaff app to open the link.
Use the mobile site, or safari.
And copy and paste the link into the browser.
You will need to manually enter the mms settings.

IOS 6Settings~General~Mobile Data~Mobile Data Network

Password ... Blank

APN ...
Username ... Giffgaff
Password ... Leave blank

MMS UA Prof URL (just leave blank)
Do NOT press the " Reset Settings " button when you’ve done this.

Once the settings are in, turn your iphone off ( via the red slider ) till the screen is completely blank. Then reboot. If you do not see the apple logo, the settings will not stick.

When your phone has restarted go to
Settings /Messages and ensure that MMS Messaging button is set to ON.

In settings messages turn imessages on.

Please also ensure that the Enable 3G button and the Mobile Data button are set to ON.

Then Settings /Phone And check My Number is correct

Go to Settings /Carrier and switch automatic On. The carrier should then show O2-UK

In general your current SIM should work fine in your new phone! The only exception is if the SIM needs to be a different size. Given that you are buying an iPhone 4s, I think they take Micro SIMs. If you are using a normal SIM at the moment (from what I can make out from the online manual, you should be), just pop out the middle section of the SIM and use that in your iPhone.

If your SIM does not have a middle pop-out section (or if I have the SIM types wrong), you will have to do a SIM swap.  You should never have to create a new account and transfer your number, at any rate.

SIM Swap (if needed):

Click to reveal

"SIM Swap" lets you change your SIM, while keeping your account, credit, goodybag and any other information the same.  If you already have a spare giffgaff SIM the right size lying around, you just need to activate it, but this time log in to your current giffgaff account instead of making a new one.  It will ask you if you want to swap your SIM and deactivate the old one, so check the SIM codes are correct and click yes.

The SIM Swap should happen very quickly (in around 10 minutes), and you will be up and running in no time.

If you do not have a spare SIM, just order a new one at the right size at
