I have read posts on the internet about it and it sounds incredibly easy - almost too easy!

Can anyone confirm that it is as simple as putting a giffgaff SIM in and typing in a code which a website will give me when I give them the IMEI number?

I ask this because I had to unlock an Orange Monte Carlo for myself, and that certainly wasn't as easy as typing in a code!

Thanks

Please KUDOS if I helped.

Yes usually you give the unlocking people your imei and the network its locked too and they will send you the unlock code that you just type into your phone. Most unlocking code companies do send full instructions on how to do it, so its pretty easy to do.

Hope this helps. If it does then please mark it as the solution, if it has just helped then click on my Kudos star on the left. Thanks.

Question 2: Is it a decent phone?

Yes it should work. Smiley Happy

You will need to create a APN for your giffgaff sim to work. A full guide for the Sony Xperia range, including your phone can be found here:

You can buy this mobile from O2 online for £79.99 at the moment, no need to buy any top up voucher and free next day delivery. The phone will be all fine for your giffgaff sim without the need to get it unlocked.

Thanks for the info, but I probably get it from Orange as they are giving away Wesc headphones (and I really need some headpohones!).

Also, buying from O2 isn't always as simple as putting your SIM in! I went instore to buy a HTC last year but the giffgaff SIM didn't work. I changed all the settings to suit giffgaff but it still didn't work. No idea why but it didn't.

Plus it's £79.99 in Orange aswell and I get a further 20% discount as I work in the public sector.
