I received this text message this morning from Payfor it:

You've paid £8.00 for 2 Videos from HArdcore. Help? 08455442892 or **************This is not a subscription & will appear as Payforit on your bill

The website link shows this:

Purchase History

I called the Payforit number and was told that adult videos were purchased from my handset at 00:14 and 00:12. This was not possible as my phone was with me and I was sleeping. No one else has access to my phone or password. Payforit has blocked my number from future charges (apparently) but I'm worried that this will not be the end of it.

This has used my PAYG credit and now I'm worried about topping up as my credit will probably disappear right away again.

I have forwarded the message to 7726.

I'm worried that someone has somehow remotely accessed my phone?! Can someone please advise on how this may have happened and how I can prevent it from happening again? Am I best to get my number changed?

Thank you all in advance.

contact an agent to change your number.

If it was me i would change my number to be on the safe side.As you will never know when you are going to get charged.

"chekc your bank statements"

- why? when the OP said it had come from their airtime balance?

@debbie - if you are worried it may happen again you can either purchase a goodybag directly therefore theres no airtime credit on your account to be taken from

or the only other alternative is to switch your number

I'd highly consider you to change your number mate, never know about these dodgy people.

Ask an agent to change your number mate.
All the best, hope your problem gets resolved quicklySmiley Happy

talk to your card company about reversing the payments.

This hasn'r been charged to my bank account or credit card, it has been charged to my phone bill and therefore used all of my PAYG credit. My reply form giffgaff was:

As this charge is not from giffgaff unfortunately we are unable to refund it for you.

Sometimes replying to these messages with 'STOP' will prevent any further charges. Someone must have subscribed to these services on your phone.

I think my only option is to change my number.

If it is not something you have done yourself have you recently downloaded a wallpaper app or something equally harmless seeming that has been browsing sites in the background without you realising and has run up the charge to sneakily earn the app maker money?
