Following my previous post below, I'm afraid this was short lived. Let me explain, due to my work, these tests were carried out during 12am - 7am, when I ran this tests out of these hours, the speeds were shocking to say the least approx 1Mbps download/upload.
So I decided to find out if indeed GG/o2 were throttling us as customers. I purchased a o2 sim card, tested during peak hours i.e. 7am-11.59pm and over the course of 5 days my o2 phone (iPhone 5s) was getting anything between 25-35Mbps download and 14Mbps upload, i used another iPhone 5s with my existing GG sim card at the same time during the day over the said 5 days, averaging 1Mbps download/upload.
Now I know its not exactly a fault free scientific experiment, but the difference in these speeds is amazing. As soon as the clock struck approx 12am, the GG speeds when back up to 30Mbps!
As a service this was not acceptable and reluctanlty I decided to leave GG after many years.
Who is to blame, im not sure, is it GG employing their traffic flow/management? is it o2 putting their customers at the top of the tier? From reading many forums posts on here I can see im not the only one. Yes I know GG have accepted there are "issues" but in reality I do not think they will be resolved and suddenly all our speeds shoot up to over 30Mbps! I hope they do get sorted and maybe i'll return in the future.
Cheers for now guys.
Noticed my GG/o2 signal has improved recently and then suddenly the 4G icon popped up wear I live, very rural near Gloucester, couldnt believe the speeds i'm getting, hopefully this continues... fingers crossed! ;-)
