The website says my area has good coverage,  my phone often has no signal.

When out I cannot get internet via the phone all the time, its so slow its unusable.

What can I do to see if I can get a better service before switching to another provider.

Coverage will vary my network, particularly outside of urban areas. 3g still isn't exactly universal in many areas either!

Inside buildings it can also fluctuate. You can try a different phone, some phones cope with weak signals better than others.

Welcome to the forum. In terms of internet access, you need to setup your phone with the giffgaff internet settings. Information on how to do this is at . As for the signal, is it poor everywhere you go or only just in your local area? If it is limited to a specific area, then there could be poor signal, congestion, or a blackspot in that area.

Hi there and thanks for visiting the community.
If you could please try turning your device OFF,wait 5 minutes, then turn your device ON again,as this can help in most cases. If your issue has not been resolved, check the signal in your area,by visiting or clicking onto the link below.
Please be aware that the website is updated hourly, so there may be a current issue that is not showing at the moment. Keep checking the signal checker website over the next few hours or so,cheersSmiley Very Happy.

If the signal checker is showing NO issues, you could also perform,a manual roam, which basically is searching for networks on your device.Go to your phones "settings" and Select mobile network options and Change the Network Selection Mode from Automatic to Manual and list of available networks will be displayed after a few moments.Select any other network that is not your home provider network and After a few moments you will see "No Service" on the display. Now select your home provider(which is o2) network and change the selection back to AutomaticSmiley Very Happy.

My service is spot on in my area, You could just be in a bad area for receiving a good internet / signal service if it is fine at other locations (if all of my info hasn't solved it)

You could always give the below a shot >>>

See if theres any problems in your area ➜

⬜ Check your coverage here ➜ - o2 coverage checker

⬜ Also ➜ Hand clean the sim Very Soft

( Next option if the Above didn't Work/Solve the problem ) See The Next Steps Below >

[ Next Steps ]

⬜ Try deleting any old or even giffgaff Wap / Apn ( internet settings ) - if you have any stored

Then you might want to delete any

⬜ Data

⬜ Wap

Internet Profile/ Data Profile

⬜ Also Delete Any > Internet Accounts > if you have Advanced options, and then Power the Mobile/Unit Off for a minute or two and Power back On and then input the settings found below )

[ For Iphone ] - Try a reset of network settings

⬜ Go to
⬜ Settings
⬜ General
⬜ Reset ( at the bottom of the page)

●And click on reset network settings

⬜ Then power Off for a minute
⬜ Then power On after a minute and then input the settings back in (settings can be found below)

Also -

[ To use giffgaff internet on your sim ]

■➜ Switch off your WiFi connection -

■➜ Switch on / Enable - 3G/Data Connection - Package Data or Cellular Data

Always Best To Check -- [ Balance Check ]

⬜ Dial ➜ *100# for your remaining credit

⬜ Or Visit ➜ - online -

⬜ Dial ➜ *100*7# for your goodybag allowance

You could also try the Sim Swap option to rule out a possible faulty SIM card you have now.. (That's if the above never helped)

There will always be pockets of poor network coverage in otherwise good to excellent locations.
