Use Skype. There are alternatives out there. GG recently reduced international calling rates. Doubt it will go down as much as you like really.

International calls are expensive unfortunately.

If you use it a lot then perhaps you should look at internet calling like Skype, which is free if the other people have it also.
Alternatively if you must phone landlines/mobiles then perhaps you should look at the various networks that specialise in international calling. Giffgaff are basically the best all round one - but you could easily have that as your main phone, and a spare phone or just swap the sim when you need to do long foreign calls.
Many newsagents and corner shops will have details of such networks which do it through sim cards, or you may find a international calling card company cheaper - dependant on your exact useage requirements.

The prices to Bangladesh have been reduced a lot recently by giffgaff and are now these prices which are actually cheaper than calling the UK?

The new international prices can be found here http://giffgaff.com/index/international

Landline (charged in per minute increments) 4p
Mobile (charged in per minute increments) 4p
Text 8p
Picture Messages (MMS) 24p

You might want to suggest a particular sim card my local shop does several small networks on the same scale as giffgaff but also Vodafone, Orange, O2 etc etc.
