Gg signal & reception is excellent in Thailand . The roaming partners AIS ,DTAC & TRUE (formally orange) have widespread 3g coverage on mainland & islands at 2100mhz .
Free WiFi is abundant in hotels ,cheap guesthouse, bars ,many eateries & bungalow island resorts .
So make sure your intended contacts have whatsapp ,line ,Skype(the list goes on ) etc .to take advantage of free calls & sms .

It's dependant on which network you choose to roam on however they should all work fine out there

It all depends which signal your phone connects to. It wont be anything to do with giffgaff.

Hi, when out there remember your Goodybag will not work, you will need lots of Airtime credit to make calls etc. Turn of data roaming and only turn on when required, use any available Wifi as much as possible.

Hi @dirtydc1

Why not post the same question in General Discussion as  think there are bound to other members who have been and can give you an answer.

I think I once read that mark1101b has been in the past. he's a regular poster on the forum.

I've often used my iPhone 4s in Thailand. Never had a problem.

Turn off mobile data roaming though and use free wifi wherever possible, Whatsapp & Viber are great.

Top up airtime before you go in case you do need to make calls and don't forget incoming calls are also charged at £1 a minute Smiley Surprised
