My Xperia XA1 Ultra has started becoming unstable at frequent intervals - several times a day. The signs of instability are that touching one part of a home screen causes an app I have not touched to start, typing a character on a keyboard causes many other characters to be input, sometimes I cannot unlock the phone because when I slide my finger up the screen the lock screen just reappears.  Often the whole screen shakes.

I have connected to the Sony site and downloaded the repair software and run that without success; I have carried out a factory restart without success and I have changed to a new SIM card, without success (although changing the SIM card has made it less likely to become unstable).

Has anyone else experienced these types of problems? Any suggestions on how I can deal with this, or whether it should be returned for repair (it is within the warranty period)?

Hi @asbr

I really can't suggest anything else apart from restoring your phone but looks like you already tried that. I suggest you return the phone back to giffgaff for repair/replacement.

Steps to send the phone for a repair can be found here https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Solve-your-questions/How-to-send-a-phone-for-repair/ta-p/10441573

@asbr

Sadly, loads of reports of this issue with the XA.

DO NOT return it to giffgaff but direct to Sony. Their repair facility in Pencoed, South Wales is, from personal experience, nothing short of exemplary.
