I'm in an area that has excellent 4G (supposedly), I have an iPhone 5 which is set to pick up 4G in the settings, I have a 4G SIM and I have a 4G goodybag.

But I'm getting only 3GSmiley Sad

I've rebooted the phone, toggled the settings....anything else to try?

@hermeios

If it is the 5 that you have not 5S or 5C, then that is your problem. the 5 does not support the 4G frequency used by O2/Giffgaff.

If you like my post, or found it useful, please give me a Kudo, thanks :-)

Hi.  It can take up to 24hrs for the 4G to be provisioned on your handset and, as this is day one you probably need to give it some time Smiley Wink

The iphone was a deal between EE and Apple and needs a certain 4G frequency to work on which giffgaff doesn't use.  the 5C and 5S are fine though.

Hi @hermeios

giffgaff 4G LTE does support iPhone 5.

As you know that giffgaff runs on O2 network, and O2 rubs the 800MHz spectrum.
However the iPhone 5 only supports the 1800MHzspectrum, which is not a valid band at O2.

Sorry but the iphone 5 does not support giffgaff 4g, you can only get 4g on the iphone 5s or 5c on giffgaff.

iphone 5 doesnt fit in with the giffgaff catogory i`m afraid . Only phones with band 20 or a 800MHz 4G antenna can get 4G on giffgaff.

The original iPhone 5 does not support the 800MHz LTE band that is used by giffgaff.
