Hello, I transferred to giff gaff over christmas. I put the giff gaff sim into my iphone 5s and waited for a few days for my old number from my old network to be transferred over (I was one of the people caught up in the transfer delays that happened then). I thought everything had transferred properly, when people phone me on my old number they can get through, however i am having lots of problems with text and iMessage.

Both text and iMessage are coming up as if they have been sent by the temporary giff gaff number. The number in my iphone contacts is listed as the temporary giff gaff number. When friends try to text my old number which should have transferred this is not working. Messages generally (particularly imessages) are taking a long time to send.

Any ideas? Any help anyone can give would be most appreciated!

Julie,
Go to settings then phone, check that your number is correct, if not tap it and you can edit it. Restart your phone.
Then
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Messages
3. Switch iMessage OFF
4. Once it's switched off, turn it
back ON again
5. Wait for it to finish activating in iMessage
6. Once it's done, restart your phone.

If I helped click ''best answer and kudos'' thanks.

Hi,

This is usually a problem with the iPhone itself, or more specifically, with iMessages.  If you do the following, it should sort the problem for you.

Goto Settings/Facetime/facetime and turn it off and
Goto settings/Messages/iMessage and turn it off

Now turn iMessages back on.  The phone should now do some technical voodoo and recognise your new number.  You can verify this by going to -

Settings/Phone/My number and checking it's now your proper giffgaff number.

You can now turn Facetime back on too.  Just reboot your phone and that should sort it.

Hope that helps Smiley Wink

Thanks guys I have tried all of that and it still isn't working! I changed the number in phone settings and when I tried to reconnect it said there had been an error during activation, I'm really getting sick of this not working!
