Set your device for best performance.
OK, first check service
NETWORK SERVICE.Try putting your area code in the link below
http://giff.ly/ggservice

APN+mms settings. Please use these correct settings. All phones.
Try updating phone to latest software first, usually loads giffgaff APN.
The giffgaff app on your phone will give the correct settings for that phone and you input manually.
These are your correct settings to use.
http://giff.ly/gg_settings
Now this
NETWORK RESET.
Go to settings, more, mobile networks, network operators, choose O2 or giffgaff and phone will lock onto the signal. Job done.
PART TWO.
You can do a manual roam by first selecting from the list a non O2/giffgaff network, the phone will set onto that but not provide service, go back to network list and select O2/giffgaff again.
Also remove sim, clean and check for damage.

HI

you need to enter an internet settings

Depending on the model of your phone you can create one APN with both Internet and MMS settings or create one separate APN for each.

In order to avoid any conflict, we advise to remove existing APN settings.

You need to set your phone up for giffgaff mobile data before you can use it. Have you set yours up?

If you tell us what phone you have we can give you details on how to set it up.

Hi,you'll need the giffgaff APN settings installed on to your phone before you can use the giffgaff mobile data ( Internet and MMS messages

if your phone is an android based OS then you could try to use an app from the play store using your WiFi connection ,seė the link's below of the best app's

the APN APP by Paul Shirley , which can install the APN settings on older android devices or can guide you through the setting on later OS (4.2 & over )

there's also this app by qquetonix ( qasman )

But here's the offical my giffgaff app which can only show you the APN settings , plus the usual balance and goodybag allowances (& community forum )

If that doesn't work on your phone then

you could also seë if the standard giffgaff APN settings

can do the trick by adding them manually

Manual Settings for most phones

Mobile data Settings

Connection Name: giffgaff
APN - Access Pôint Name: giffgaff.com
Proxy Server Address:[Blank]
Proxy Port:[Blank]
Login - Username: giffgaff
Passwörd: [Blank]
MCC: 234
MNC: 10

MMS Settings

Connection Name: giffgaff - MMS
APN - Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Usernäme: giffgaff
Passwörd: [Blank]
Server: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
mmsc: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
mms pröxy: 82.132.254.1
mms pört: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms

Or

APN type:

(default,mms,supl )

you may need to restart your phone before the mobile data starts to work

(If you've aeroplane mode that could also work by enabling & disabling for a few seconds  )

If your phone's an iPhone then it's best if you reply

If its an older BB phone you can also enable the BB services from your my giffgaff page for free as long as you've a 3G goodybag ,here

Hello,

Thanks for visiting the community forum!

Firstly, Ensure that you do actually have an active goodybag or airtime credit available on your account.

From your handset:

  • Dial *100*7# to check your goodybag allowance
  • Dial *100# to check your remaining airtime credit balance

Check your dashboard page to ensure that your goodybag or airtime credit is still available and is showing on your account here:

https://giffgaff.com/dashboard

You can also check your order history page, That it's reading as 'Order delivered' here:

https://giffgaff.com/orders/history

For your Internet and MMS to work with your phone, You will first need to Install the required (APN) settings to enable for this to work. However, Most NEW modern phones will automatically update these for you, If this Isn't the case for you, Then, You will need to Manually Input these yourself.

You might need to Edit an (O2UK) or (O2 Pay & Go) Apn, OR create your own giffgaff Apn, To enable for these settings to be entered, This can usually be found under - Settings, Wireless and Network OR More Networks, Mobile Networks, Connections - And then goto - Access Point Names. You may need to click onto the cross in the right top corner to ADD the apn, Once you've done this, Make sure to click on save, And then, Reboot, You should now see either a symbol together with arrows on the top of your screen appear, If you do, Then you have completed the correct procedure,

For settings please refer to the given link below for your reference here:

http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Settings-for-your-device/Internet-and-MMS-settings-APN-guide/ta-p/3...

(If you've just purchased your goodybag or airtime credit on your account, Then, Give your phone a restart, This will allow for either to kick in and begin to work)

You can Download the giffgaff App from the Google play store - Which will contain the (APN) settings here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.giffgaffmobile.controller

Internet NOT working guide here:

http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/Internet-does-not-work/ta-p/7435922

Watch this tutorial video on youtube which will guide you through setting up your APN settings here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvZGjt9okzU

Depending on your Android phone (If you have one) and whether your settings consist of the 'same layout' on your handset - If these do, Then, I would advise giving the following link ago, Which should help to assist you further with resetting your settings to default here:

http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Tips-Guides/How-to-replace-the-default-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-mini-APN-t...

Please see page 1 & 2 for more Information.

You can check your coverage and location for any local phone mast faults or maintenance that perhaps are being carried out here:

http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Service-Updates/Service-Checker-and-Planned-Mast-Maintenance/td-p/4...

You could try and perform a manual roam procedure, This will refresh your connection to the network:

Thanks
Kind Regards

@fredericknyaga
Hi,
1) It may be an issue with APN (ACCESS POINT NAME) Settings on your device (Internet and MMS settings ) and/ or what you select when you first put your giffgaff sim card into your device.

2)You have not stated what type of device you have.

When posting queries relating to function of your device, it would be  useful to people trying to help you - and more beneficial to you  in the long-run -  if you provided info as to  exactly what type of device you have.

That way, people that have experience of  using your particular type of device should be able to provide you with help that is more specific to your particular device - otherwise, all you will get is general advice applicable to different devices.

3) Firstly, if you have a smartphone, when you first put the giffgaff sim card in your smartphone  it may have given you a list of mobile networks and asked you to select one. Sometimes 'giffgaff' is given as an option, so obviously you should select that. However sometimes it does not give giffgaff as an option but it should still give o2 as an option if a list appears. Do NOT choose o2 because you won't get Internet connection, just select 'CANCEL', then enter the APN (Access Point Name) settings for Internet and MMS manually, save them and then select to activate those SPECIFIC settings .

4) Following is website link for giffgaff info about device Internet and MMS Settings:
https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Settings-for-your-device/Internet-and-MMS-settings-APN-guide/ta-p/...

5)This website link will take you to different giffgaff website pages re: Internet:
https://giffgaff.com/support/calls-and-internet/internet-and-data
**************************************************
6) *MANUAL ROAM:
If you don't get Internet connection and you are using correct settings for Internet and MMSs, you can do a MANUAL ROAM (manual search for network.) To do that:
a)  Switch off MOBILE DATA connection.
b) Should be something on your device which says something like ''Network Operator'.
Click on that. Phone may automatically do manual search for available mobile network signals. However, if phone does not do so automatically, then look for something that says similiar to 'Search Networks... Scan for all available networks.' Select that. Phone should then do manual search for available network signals.
c) Select the appropriate mobile network. [If you are given o2 as an option, Select that as giffgaff operates off o2 Network. (N. B., When you first put giffgaff Sim card in phone, if you Select 'o2' it will not work. )]
d) Switch Mobile Data connection back ON.

(***You can also try selecting WRONG network first and then when phone says it can't connect to that network, do manual search again and then select correct mobile network.
************************************************
7) *REBOOT: IF there is still a problem, try switching phone off, then switch it back on again after a few minutes.
**************************************************

8) If you are using correct Internet and MMS settings and  find that there is any FURTHER problem in future , try switching Mobile Data off and do manual search for network to reconnect to correct mobile network.
