Depending on the model of your phone you can create one APN with both data and MMS settings or create one separate APN for each.

Note: if your phone has APN settings for Data and MMS altogether in one page, then leave the APN type blank.

In order to avoid any conflict, we advise removing existing APN settings.

Data Settings

APN:giffgaff.com
Username:        giffgaff
Password:{Leave Blank}
Proxy:{Leave Blank}
MCC:234
MNC:10

Make sure not to confuse "proxy" and "MMS proxy". The first one must be left blank and the value for MMS Proxy is 82.132.254.1

APN:giffgaff.com
Username:giffgaff
Password:{Leave Blank}
Server:http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
MMSC:http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002

Can you make calls and send texts?

Which phone do you have?
Do you see a connection symbol
(3G, 4G, H, E, gprs)

make sure you have sufficient data allowance and then turn off wife and enabled mobile data as wifi can over ride mobile data

you could switch on and off your flight mode a few times to refresh your network again and turn your phone on and off this might help it too...
you should see if there are any network problems where you are using the service status checker: https://giffgaff.com/coverage-and-service or

If there are no network problems by you, see if doing a manual roam helps as described here http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/Force-the-change-of-SMS-settings/ta-p/4871794
check that your phone has the correct internet/MMS settings for giffgaff (and not the O2 ones) http://giff.ly/gg_settings

Also check the SIM in another unlocked phone to see if the sim is working this can help to diagnose whether the issue is to do with the SIM or the giffgaff services
