locked phone

I have a refurbed iphone 8 delivered today from giffgaff which will not accept any of the three giffgaff sim cards I have. I get 'SIM Not supported' message each time. Despite assurance it seems that phoneis still locked to another network. Need to transfer to new phone urgently before I go abroad.No response from Giffgaff yet. Any suggestions?

sync in itunes before panic sets in Smiley Happy it might work

All the phones sold by giffgaff are 100% unlocked to any SIM card should be accepted. Please sync the phone with iTunes to see if that helps. When you sync the phone iTunes ensure the giffgaff SIM is in the phone. Follow this https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201253 official guide from Apple.

If your still getting the SIM not supported message then it sounds like giffgaff sent you a locked phone and will require them to unlock it.

The giffgaff agents usually answer within 4 hours for majority of cases however, can take up to 24 hours during busy periods. The giffgaff agents work 7 days a week from 8am to 11pm.

Hi @wincom

 

Try this i don't know if it will work

Insert giffgaff SIM

Do not turn phone on
Connect phone to computer with USB cable
Start itunes
iPhone will switch on. Wait until itunes registers it and checks for updates
Install the carrier profile update if offered
Disconnect and restart phone

Get a free giffgaff Sim

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Have tried to sync with iTunes but it does not recognise phone. Looks like I have a locked one!!
