My wife, also on Giffgaff, has a Storex S'phone DC40G. A few days ago it was afflicted with malware which could not be cleared by factory reset and so I reluctantly re-flashed it with the matching ROM image from the Storex site. This appeared to work, but the phone will no longer connect to the (O2) network - response is 'unavailable, try later'. Coverage is adequate, and her SIM works fine when put into my old Nokia. The (Giffgaff) SIM from that also fails to connect when put in her phone. Everything I look at, like MMC, seems the same as on my working Giffgaff connection.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Chris

Try taking to a local shop and see if they can see what seems to be the problem

Maybe the malware stole the IMEI and changed it for something useless?

solid247. The phone is a French Storex DC40G. Giffgaff SIMs which work in other phones give the same problem with it. No info about what its IMEI originally was, and I cannot find it listed in any of the About Phone settings.

My IMEI is listed in the "about phone" information, so I'd guess it's been deleted. That's probably why it won't connect to network, as IMEI is needed as idendifier. Smiley Frustrated
