there seems to be a problem on the o2 network for iphones at the moment and this happening to people in different locations up and down the uk i think its to with o2 working on their network at the moment and it seems to be affectings iphone users mainly as there is alot of cases like your and its intermittent at the moment i'm afraid hopefully it'll settle down this week

It sounds like the settings are incorrect. Can I suggest that you delete the current settings and then connect too wifi, open the safari browser and type invalid.name/giffgaff press enter and then install, once you have done this reboot the phone and all should be ok

Hey there,

Check here to check if there is any maintenance being done at your are http://status.o2.co.uk/

As for the settings, try the following to get the settings:

Try this first:

1) Insert your giffgaff SIM

2) connect to wifi

3) open safari and go to http://invalid.name/giffgaff (it might take some time to load, just wait awhile for it)

4) a notification comes up and asks you to accept a profile

5) press install and then Install now to confirm

Ultimately its a general setting but normally being entered manually for iPhone, they are:
