sorry if this has been asked before, but I am getting my new phone tomorrow with apparently requires a nano sim, do I need to order a new sim card (with the same mobile number) or do I cut down my existing sim?  - Thanks everyone, this is my first time asking the community!

If the new phone you're getting was ordered from giffgaff , then they will have included a spare SIM in it in case you need to move to a different size. All that needs to be done by you is to perform a SIM Swap to move over your number and any goodybag/credit you currently have.

If not, then it's worth checking your existing SIM to see if it has a nano portion which can be popped out, since newer giffgaff SIM cards (from mid-2015) were made as 3-in-1, meaning they have mini, micro and nano portions. If you have one of these SIMs, simply remove the nano section, and you're good to go.

If none of the above, then you have a few options...

The most direct would be to cut your existing SIM down to size, some folk are happy to do this, some it may not sit well. There's plenty of guides online detailing this, and a fair chunk of mobile phone repair outlets may even do it for free, but it's your call.

You could also order one from your orders page, here: https://giffgaff.com/orders/mgm and when it arrives, perform the aforementioned SIM swap. Order it before (I think) 4pm tomorrow, and you should have it by Tuesday.

Or finally, head along to your local supermarket and pick one up. Most supermarkets now carry giffgaff SIM cards for around a pound, as do most convenience stores, petrol stations, and branches of Poundland, Wilkos and B&M.

If you do go down the route of obtaining a new SIM, then to perform the SIM Swap procedure I've mentioned, have a look at the following link. It gives you information about it, along with a guide on how to do one:

hi there if you need new SIM order from here

https://giffgaff.com/orders/mgm

All newgiffgaff SIMs are 'trio' SIMs (Mini/Micro/Nano in one just push out the bit that you need to fit your phone) and are 4G/3G/2G compatable.
you can check if your sim fit in your phone if not order new sim and perform sim swap
good luck with new phone

@simsbabe Hi you can check if you have one of the new sims which may have the pop out ability and already houses the nano size. You can also trim it to size if you wish or as already stated above, you can do a sim swap. If it's the latter and you don't have a sim then rather than waiting the postage by ordering on you can pick them up in most high street stores for less than £1 tescos, iceland etc have them.

@simsbabe >>>

If your current sim doesn't fit your new phone or pop out to a nano sim as giffgaff sims are 3-1 now they send out and fit from, Standard,Micro,Nano, but if yours doesn't fit the one you have now, just follow out the below and do a Sim Swap, >>

Before Doing A Sim Swap >>

(Optional)

Backup / Copy your contacts/phone numbers from the old sim to your phone or write them down, otherwise you will lose any contacts from the old sim as soon as you do the "Sim Swap". The data cannot be transferred through SIM Swap.

If you don't have a spare SIM card , Order Here > https://giffgaff.com/orders/mgm (you might have to log back in again)

Do not Activate the sim card nor top up.
You need a "Unactivated" giffgaff sim to do this.

( Just To Add ) >>

Some shops / supermarkets will sell giffgaff sim cards,

Such As:

• Tesco
• Poundland
• Mc'colls
• Sainsbury's and probably a few more places but those named above are known to sell them and I've also seen them myself, for around 99p each.

Next. >>

● One SIM fits all -
The awesomely-designed giffgaff triple SIM fits all phones with its all-in-one standard, micro and nano SIM design.

- Sim Size -
As Follows:
● Standard Sim
● Micro Sim
● Nano Sim

If you already have an account with giffgaff with a telephone number already active and its just a different sim size you need or a replacement sim , carry on with the below.

Before doing the "Sim Swap" , make sure you are signed in to the correct account you want the number / goodybags etc changing to.

Next:

When you Order / Or get a spare SIM card or if you already have one ,You can do a Sim Swap and get everything transferred over to that SIM card you have swopped over to.

Once again:
(The spare giffgaff SIM card you ordered etc must be unactivated ) to do this process

● Transfer 's >>>
( • ) - Same Number - Account Etc
( • ) - Credit / Goodybag / Gigabags
( • ) - Community/Spreading giffgaff Payback

@simsbabe

You can order another sim-Triple Pack free or buy one for less than a pound at Poundshop/Tesco and do a,"Sim Swap" but this can take time and some people have problems with it.

Or you can go to any local Phone shop(Not Carphone Warehouse as they charge too much) and they have templates to cut the sim down for around a pound.

Or if you want you can have a go yourself,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6T1Mygucak&t=4s

Before you swap the sim use a search engine with the model of your phone and the words backup contacts so you don't lose them and can transfer them to the new phone,Or search again and your old model phone name and the word transfer and the name of the new model phone Smiley Happy
