Hi, my dad has a Sony xperia SP and I posted a thing a few days ago about the same problem however I never mentioned what kind of phone it was(silly me). I read the comments about access point names which I had to fix myself on my phone too when I joined giffgaff (I'm his daughter) so I already knew about them and I changed it for him thanks to the wonderful communitySmiley Very Happy unfortunately we are still unable to get internet on his phone, any advice?):

Hi there, sorry to hear about these problems i know how frustrating they can be. I cannot guarantee this solution will work but its a possibility it will, you can find the appropriate instructions for your device on this thread here: http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Tips-Advice/Manual-Roam/td-p/3345471

It will refresh the network, so if you already have the apn settings in it should work fine. Please double check these settings here and make sure your haven't just got the mms (picture messaging ones):

When you are using a new phone with your giffgaff SIM, you may have to enter the settings manually, so you are able to use Internet and send MMS.

This guide gives you the most appropriate methods to update the settings, for each type of phone. Just click on your phone type below to access the correct section.

Android | iOS | Windows Phone | BlackBerry | Other Phones

Android

Software Update

The main manufacturers selling Android phones are now making giffgaff settings available automatically. Make sure that your phone software is updated to the last version made available by the manufacturer.

When your phone is up-to-date, go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > More .. > Mobile Networks > Access Point Name. There, select giffgaff

Manual update

If your settings are not automatically available yet, you can modify them manually.

Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > More .. > Mobile Networks > Access Point Name.
Create a new APN
Fill the APN with the settings available here and save it
We have many guides giving more detailed instructions to set-up Internet on Android phones, just search for your phone model on this page.

iOS

Using the official giffgaff carrier profile

If your iPhone is running iOS 7.1.1, you will receive a notification telling you that the giffgaff carrier settings are available. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to install the carrier profile.

If you did not receive this notification, you can go to your iPhone settings to reset your carrier profile.

If your iPhone is running an older version, you will have to update it to the latest version to install the carrier settings. When you upgrade iOS to a newer version, the carrier profile is reset to the latest version available during the update.

Change your carrier profile manually

If your iDevice is running an older version of iOS, it is possible to modify their internet settings with the following method.

Reset the profile of your iPhone or iPad by clicking this link to download giffgaff's carrier profile: http://giff.ly/iphonesettings

To use it:
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
Come to this page and click http://giff.ly/iphonesettings
Download and install the carrier profile
Reset your 3G connection
This will replace your current profile with giffgaff's Internet settings, including the parameters which can't be modified manually (e.g. proxy settings). MMS settings must be modified manually, see below.

Manual update of MMS Settings

Go to Settings
Go to Mobile (or Cellular)
Go to Mobile (or Cellular) Data
Under MMS, enter the MMS SETTINGS below
Switch mobile data off and on

MMS Settings

APN - giffgaff.com
Username - giffgaff
Password - leave blank
MMSC - http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc
MMS Proxy - 82.132.254.1:8080
MMS Max Message Size - 2097152
MMS UA Prof URL - leave blank

N.B. MMS will NOT work unless 3G is ON. (Settings > General > Network) Make sure Enable 3G is set to ON

Windows Phone

Automatic settings

If your phone is using Windows Phone 8, giffgaff settings are automatically available. If you are using an older version of Windows Phone, you will have to use one of the methods below.

With an app

If your settings are not accessible already in the menu of your Windows Phone, you can install the Mobile Network app. It will allow you to update your settings manually.

Manual update

To change your Internet and MMS settings:

from Start, flick left to the Application list, press Settings and then press Mobile.
tap "Add Internet APN" and insert the Internet Settings
tap "Add MMS APN" and insert the MMS Settings
Save your changes
We published guides giving more detailed instructions to set-up Internet for each version of Windows Phone, just search for your phone model on this page.

BlackBerry

If you are using a BlackBerry before BB 10, the settings are managed through BlackBerry services and are configured automatically when you buy a BlackBerry Plan.

giffgaff settings are also available by default in all BlackBerries using BB10.

Other Phones

If your phone is using a system which is not listed above, you can still use the same settings.

Phones using 3G

If your phone is using 3G to connect to the Internet - most phones are using it - you can simply use the settings described in the next section.

Phones using WAP

If your phone is using WAP to connect to Internet you can also use the settings described in the next section. You will just need to add the following to the settings:

Internet Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Internet Port: 8080

If you need more detailed instruction, you can search for your phone model on this page. If your phone is not listed or if you need more help, the community is here to help you.

Internet and MMS Settings

Depending on the model of your phone you can create one APN with both Internet and MMS settings or create one separate APN for each.

In order to avoid any conflict, we advise to remove existing APN settings.

In the APN section, Choose 02 Pay&GO (the only one showing, if you cant see it do a reset to default) so that it had the circle light with a blue light. I then enter it and edited it, now this has never worked any other time. But this time I left the name as

O2 Pay&Go and then edited the rest to... APN: giffgaff.com Username: giffgaff Password LEAVE BLANK MMSC: http:// mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002 MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195 MMS Port: 8080 MCC: 234 MNC: 10

Now click the right hand key and choose save, restart your mobile and you should be connected to giffgaff.

If you unsure how to find the place to so this them please try this (may vary per model): Access settings, this come be done by placing your finger at top of screen anf moving downwards or by pressing the icon above the home button. Once in settings, you will see wirless&networks, click on more. From here select Mobile Networks, then Access Point Names. Now follow information as above to create APN. I hope that these instructions will help you get your Xperia mobile APN for giffgaff up and running.

OK these are the correct Settings
APN+mms settings. Please use these correct settings. All phones.
Try updating phone to latest software first, usually loads giffgaff APN. Or put settings in manually.
All your settings for APN and MMS are in this link. Go slowly and check all you do is exactly as shown.
reboot after with a 5 minute wait while phone is off.

The giffgaff app on your phone will give the correct settings for that phone and you input manually.

http://giff.ly/gg_settings

Now Settings are right check mobile data is on. Go to settings, more, mobile networks, now enable mobile data.
Now set network include part two

NETWORK RESET. Sometimes network setting can drift and a forced reset can help locate a better signal. Go to settings, more, mobile networks, network operators, phone will now search networks and give a list please choose O2 or giffgaff and phone will lock onto the signal. Job done.
Note:: It's at this moment if your signal problem was severe you can do a double reset by first selecting from the list a non O2/giffgaff network, the phone will set onto that network but not provide service, go back to network list and select O2/giffgaff again (doing this can clear old O2details that may corrupt a new O2 choice, doesn't happen often but can be useful)

Hi @prawnster1 welcome to the giffgaff communuity ,

please check your settings exist on the phone, if they don't simply follow this link http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Settings-for-your-device/Guide-Android-Phones/ta-p/3521671 to add them manually.

Or, if you have a wifi connection, install and run the giffgaff app from the Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qmusa.giffgaffapp&hl=en_GB

With some phones it helps to remove the other apn entries and also you sometimes have to make the gg apn active but also there is an android app which you might find easier to use
