I got my new galaxy s 3 yesterday morning and have set up the internet etc. All has be working fine (sent and recieved messages and calls) until this afternoon. Now when I try to make calls it says "not registered on network" and my messages are not being sent but I am able to get on internet and send / receive emails. Please help, I have a 3 hour drive ahead of me now with no way of contacting anyone in an emergency.

Try this,
Go to Settings- then - More.
Mobile Networks-Network Operators-
search for networks.
Select any network that is Not 02.
(choose Orange/Vodafone etc).
You will then see "unable to connect".
Now select 02 and allow the selection
back to Automatic.

I brought it from a second hand independent dealer. Not a shop

The phone is at fault. I would go back to the shop & get a refund.

Yes,as suggested above take it back to where you bought it from.

The phone is showing all the classic signs that the IMEI number is now barred which will give exactly the symptoms you describe, you'll still have a data connection but no GSM connection for calls and texts.
