NETWORK SERVICE.Try putting your area code in the link below
http://giff.ly/ggservice

Make sure you have credit or goody bag,
Dial *100# shows cash credit
Dial *100*7# shows goody bag minutes
Also remove sim, clean and check for damage.
Turn airplane mode on then off.

"IF USING INTERNET check mobile DATA is set to ON in phone settings."

APN+mms settings. Please use these correct settings. All phones.
Try updating phone to latest software first, usually loads giffgaff APN.
APN and MMS are in this link.
The giffgaff app on your phone will give the correct settings for that phone and you input manually.

You can check general coverage here,
http://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

NETWORK RESET.
Go to settings, more, mobile networks, network operators, choose O2 or giffgaff and phone will lock onto the signal. Job done.

MANUAL ROAM
In stubborn cases please do this, it can make a difference.
You can do a manual roam by first selecting a non O2/giffgaff network, the phone will set but not provide service, go back to network list and select O2/giffgaff again.
Also remove sim, clean and check for damage.

SIGNAL LEVELS EXPLAINED.

Problem with network and signal, try resetting phones and remove sim wipe it and put it back. Also, check your coverage on o2 website and after all this if still doesn't work contact an agent

Hello,

Thanks for visiting the community forum!

Can you make/receive calls/texts to and from your phone ok? Do you have signal bars on your phone's screen? Or it could possibly be, Poor coverage in your location, Unfortunately Smiley Sad Try the sim in an alternative phone. Or change your settings to GSM/2G (Only) within network mode to see whether this will make a difference.

Firstly, Ensure that you do actually have an active goodybag or airtime credit available on your account.

From your handset:

  • Dial *100*7# to check your goodybag allowance
  • Dial *100# to check your remaining airtime credit balance

Check on your dashboard page to ensure that you do still have sufficient goodybag allowance or airtime credit available on your giffgaff account.

Check your coverage for any local mast maintenance/faults/outages/network issues (The service checker doesn't always update immediately. So ensure to keep checking back for further updates) Go here: Service Checker and Planned Mast Maintenance

If that's all ok - Try simply turning your phone off and remove any sim and battery (Give them a little wipe clean with a dry cloth) However. If it still persists - It might be worth performing a manual roam procedure. This will usually refresh your connection to the network and should hopefully restore your service again. Go here: Manual Roam

You might like to ensure that nothing has changed with your (APN settings) since you've encountered any problem's with your service. Go here: Internet and MMS settings

Thanks
Kind Regards

If this is affecting both phones, and outside as well as inside, there may be a mast fault that O2 are not yet aware of.

If you use the Service Checker and put your full postcode in, you will usually get an "I disagree" button if it says the network is working fine.  You can use that button to report the fault to the engineers.  They wil investigate and get back to you within 48 hours.

I am having the same issues:cannot make/receive calls , send or receive messages. I am experiencing very often  network problems and I have come to the conlcusion that this giffgaff is not a reliebale service provider at all. My phone works fine as the network was ok when using it in a different area. I am paying for a service that does not exist. Time to move on....
