Hi there @jeanrag1945

Thanks for your question about giffgaff's new roaming arrangements in the EU and selected destinations.

Absolutely, as long you as you qualify for EU roaming, you can use a goodybag in France.  Giffgaff’s Goodybag Plans include data, minutes and texts to all the countries in the EU and selected destinations, so you can do all the things you would, at home, but without any extra cost (Roam Like At Home) in France. The same goes for our Pay as you go prices as well.

Travelling outside the EU and selected destinations? Top up your account to keep using data, minutes and texts.

Please check your current Roaming status  for EU and selected destinations, please click/tap here to view Roaming status. Please click/tap to view Fair Use While Roaming information (relates to roaming status).

> Giffgaff Roaming Charges (click/tap to view).

> EU and EEA Roaming Information (click/tap to view PDF document).

> Key information about roaming in the EU and selected destinations (click/tap to view).

> Announcement: Take your goodybag on holiday with inclusive EU roaming (click/tap to view).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Inclusive roaming is created for giffgaff members who typically reside in the UK, and is ideal for short trips (60 days maximum at a time within any 4 month period) to other places in the EU. To make things easy, giffgaff do a few quick checks for UK usage, just to make sure you meet the basic criteria, before automatically turning on EU roaming as part of your goodybag. Alternatively, you can submit proof of UK residency in other ways. Find out more

If you don’t meet the necessary criteria, or go against our Fair usage guidelines, then the inclusive roaming may be switched off. You’ll still be able to use your phone in the EU, but will be charged 3.2p/minute, 1p/text, 0.78p/MB via Airtime Credit Top-up, in addition to the cost of your goodybag. If you do not have a goodybag, you will be charged the standard PAYG rates. See our pricing page .

Enable your Roaming on the Phone NOW!! whilst in the UK and leave it enabled and make at least one
call or send one text. This will Guarantee that the system knows you were in the UK when the Roaming
was enabled and check it in your GiffGaff Dashboard.

and look for this

Roaming status ON
(EU and selected destinations)

Ignore the extra cost warnings as they are redundant but be careful once abroad if you are
near a border with a none EU country like when in France close to the Swiss Border/Cyprus(Greek-
Turkish parts)/Northern Ireland/Eire as the Network can flick over and charge from,"Airtime Credit".

Also be careful if you are on a Ferry as they have their own Networks that will be expensive and
override the "Roaming" so I'd disable the Data connection and try not to use the phone.

It's been noted that the default O2 APN settings may not work in the EU but these do,

Connection Name: giffgaff

APN - Access Point Name:
Login - Username: "giffgaff" for all devices or "vertigo" for iPhones and iPads

Password: the password is "password"

Proxy: leave blank

MMS proxy:

MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10

But don't forget to save them and then reboot the phone.

When you get off the Aircraft or Ferry Reboot the phone. This will help it pick the best EU provider
and do the same when you get back.
