why i dont have 3g on giffgaff

Hello, firstly make sure that your sim is fully activated. Please allow between 30 minutes and up to 24 hours for your sim to be fully activated. Once you receive your new number, your sim is activated.

In addition, please make sure that your phone is unlocked or on the 02 network and please check your payment history section to see if your payment was complete.


Furthermore, You probably need to enter the correct Giffgaff settings onto your phone.

Text the word 'settings' to 2020.


If you have an Android or smart phone, you can download the Giffgaff tweaker App from Google Play store onto your phone, using Wifi.


Alternatively, please see this guide on Internet settings for All Phones:

3G isn't avaliable in all areas, and some areas only have a 2G signal.

It depends, if your phone is 3G compatible then you can use the 3G mobile data etc. However if your phone is restricted to 2G then unfortunately that's all you can use.

giffgaff was having trouble with internet signals a few days ago, that may still bea problem so check the service in your area on the community tab!

 

sometimes when I am at home I can't get a good 3G signal, some areas are STILL stuck with 2G signals even though 4G is coming out here in the next year or so (not sure when giffgaff gets it?) but if that's the case then i'm afraid there is nothing you can do until giffgaff/02 update their services in certain areas

Please check the settings on your phone so that you are sure that it's not your phone who is connecting to 2g only instead of going on 3g.

Check that you have the correct settings saved on your phone, in accordance with Giffgaff.
