Activating sim card, I am a new user of giffgaff.

I have paid £12 and still do not have an activated card after 45 mins. As this is supposed to be a user run network. Then perhaps the users should decide what compensation I am entitled to if O2 do not agree with this YES it is owned by O2 and run by thier french owners. Perhaps this is a sample of things to come with giffgaff as a new customer/almost, (you have my money but no service). Why should a customer have to wait 24 hours to have a sim activated perhaps your are not what you say you are ,after all you really are still O2. If you do not activate my sim in the next 10 mins I will go to another network. And will DISS you to everyone I know.

Have you tried restarting your phone at all??

In extreme and rare cases, rarely does a new giffgaff user actually have to wait 24 hours for their sim to activate

I'm affraid we all have to wait 24 hours (doesn't always take that long) it's often done within minutes (see below)

The full giffgaff™ Activation Guide / Processing Time

-Most Importantly-
Make sure your handset/device is locked on the o2 network or unlocked to any network otherwise it will not work

giffgaff runs on the o2 network and operates as a "Mobile Virtual Network Operator" using the o2 / Telefonica Network



Next - follow the steps below -

● (Step 1) Once you've 'Topped up to Activate' the giffgaff sim - You will need to give the system around 30 minutes ( but in rare events it can take up until 24 hours to fully finish things off..



- Most Activation Completions Have Been Reported To Take From -

• Instant or a few minutes
• 30 - minutes -
• 60-90 - minutes -
• Maximum Time 24 hours - "in rare cases"



Also, - Double Check - your payments history

Once your "Fully Activated" - (See Step 2)


● (Step 2) Then you will be able to check your balances and your number will be displayed in your My giffgaff section to the left hand side above the profile picture section


● (Step 3) Once you can see your credit and the new giffgaff number Then you will be able to make calls on your phone etc and begin to use any credit or balances.

- You Now Should Be Giffgaffed - Smiley Happy

- Online Balance Check: ➜ http://giffgaff.com/dashboard - online

- Dial ➜ *100*7# for your goodybag allowance




● (Step 4) Once Activated you can also send a free text with the word NUMBER to number 2020 for your new giffgaff number


● [ Important ] If your sim hasn't started working 24 hours after topping up , then it may mean something has gone wrong in the process, see below on how to contact the agents - So they can investigate the matter for you

Hi, 24 hours is the maximum time you'll have to wait but will probably be much quicker.
please be patient just like we all have been when we first started on giffgaff. iv been with giffgaff for over 4 years which i wouldn't of been if they were no good.

Anyone that joins giffgaff will need to wait up to 24 hours for sim to acativate to account but most are done much sooner a few to to less for sim to activate fully to account.If still no services after 24 hrs then a agent will solve this if contact to get you activated https://giffgaff.com/support/ask

Which phone do you have? Is it showing signal bars and a connection symbol.?

What does it say on the phone screen when you dial
