Thanks for that information:  I have a few missed calls but no calls to an 0330 number and no outgoing texts to chargeable numbers so I remain puzzled.  But useful informaton to have

I suspect many GiffGaff users aren't aware of the guidance you cite below.

As I understand it, 0800, 0844 and 0845 numbers are free, while other 08 numbers are not?   That information would help new users if it were dispalyed more prominently.

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers are inclusive in allowances, else charged at 'geographic rate'.

Calls to 071-075 and 077-079 numbers are inclusive in allowances, else charged at 'mobile rate'.

There are several exceptions to both of those, e.g. landline and mobile numbers in Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.

Calls to 080 and 0500 numbers are free.

Calls to 084, 087 and 09 numbers are premium rate with an Access Charge and a Service Charge.

The cost of non-inclusive calls, texts and services can be found here:

https://giffgaff.com/index/pricing

See this handy guide to inclusive and non-inclusive calls, texts and services:

Inclusive and non-inclusive calls, texts and services

or look up the number here:

http://giffgaff.screet.co.uk/number/.

This additional guide explains how calls are charged:

Per second, per minute, per call?

Most organisations no longer use premium rate 084 or 087 numbers. Most have swapped to the matching 034 or 037 number or to a new 01, 02, 030, 033 or 080 number. Check the official website of the organisation you are calling. You may well find they now have new numbers.

On pages that detail inclusive allowances, Ofcom and ASA rules require significant exclusions (such as calls and texts to numbers in Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man), the price for calling Personal Numbers starting 070, and the Access Charge for calls to numbers starting 084, 087, 09 and 118, among other things, to be specified prominently on the same page.

Thanks Ian.  As I mentioned - GG should have a clear link to this infomation on the payment/ordering screen to help explain exactly what constitutes free mins.

Cheers,

I am a Newbie, & reading this post has added to my confusion.

Can some-one please draw this in "Decision Tree" form or something similar?

Can some of the jargon be clarified? eg: Is Airtime the same as Credit?

As a Newbie with a "Join your Friends" SIM I bought a £10 Goodybag because I saw no alternative on the screen in front of me. I have not yet used it because my previous Unlimited contract was still running until today's Number transfer. Can I change it for (say) £5 credit & a £5goodybag? or for £10 credit?

@colink38

Airtime and credit are the same lol 😁.

To get airtime credit you:

1) Buy a giffgaff top up voucher for minimum £10

2) Dial 43430 free from your mobile 📱

3) Enter 13 digit voucher activation code.

4) Sorted.

You can convert from credit to goodybag HOWEVER you can't convert from goodybag to credit.

Hi I've put my £20 top up on and it has confirmed the top up but when I try to purchase my goody bag it only goes as far as do you want to have a recurring goody bag. I don't tick the box I press continue and then it will not go further. Is this normal with the service . My previous goody bag ran out on the 23/3/16 and today on the 24/3/16 I'm having no luck can anyone help me please

Hi,

Is your new credit displayed on your dashboard here https://giffgaff.com/dashboard

Is your correct phone number displayed on the left of your dashboard (don't post the number, just check that you're in the correct account).
