The compare cost tool lets you compare the cost of calling 084 and 087 numbers with the cost of calling 03 and 080 numbers.

Some organisations give you a choice of numbers to call, this tool helps you find the cheapest.

To try it out please go to giffgaff.screet.co.uk/compare/

This resource has now been completed and is up-to-date for the new pricing that came in on the 1st of July 2015.

For giffgaff the correct connection fee of 0p has already been selected. The cost of calling 01 02 03 number is 0p per minute (inculsive) if you have goodybag allowance or 10p per minute if you do not.

For giffgaff the correct access charge of 25p per minute is already selected.

After selecting the service charge type and value a table is generated to show the cost of each type of number for different call durations.

In addition a permalink is generated to allow linking to a specific result.

If you have any suggestions for improvement please post in this thread and I will make the alteration as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, it seems to work as advertised.

Another thing that it can be used for is where an organisation persists in using an 084 or 087 number and you want to show them both how expensive the calls are and how much cheaper the calls would be if they swapped over to using an 03 number. After generating the appropriate table of call costs for their number, simply copy the 'permalink' URL and send it to them.

@screetonmatthew

I'm also a big fan of http://www.paygdeal.co.uk/ for PAYG phone users.

I think that is also one of yours.

@stadium - Thanks, yes it is.

I can never quite decide whether to add in the smaller operators as they seem to have a tendancy of folding after a while. Once I have finished a few other projects I have on the go I will review paygdeal.

Changes from version 1.00 to 1.01

  • Removed a selector from stage 2 that did not have any values available in stage 3
  • (Cosmetic) Updated fonts to make them more readable on low res devices
  • (Cosmetic) When hovering over links they are underlined rather than going bold to prevent distortion on some browsers
