I've received a text from 2020 saying they can't send settings, please contact Customer Services.

 

How do you do that?

There are 2 ways to set up your settings for your phone to work

 

1.Connect to WiFi and download and install this App and run the Giffgaff APN, it should set it all up for you automatically

2. Another way is to set up your android phone manually as follows

Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Menu button  - New APN

Enter the following

Name: giffgaff

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password

Server: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002

MMSC: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002

MMS proxy: 193.113.200.195

MMS port: 8080

MCC: 234

MNC: 10

 

If its an iphone then the following settings are needed instead of the above ones

 

(Select Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network (orMobileData Network)

 

Cellular Data

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password 

 

Visual Voicemail

leave blank as giffgaff do not provide it

 

MMS

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password

MMSC: http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc

MMS proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080

MMS Max Message Size: 2097152

MMS UA Prof URL: leave blank

 

 

Make sure that the option for Settings > General > Mobile Data (or Cellular) > Cellular Data is set to ON 

Once you have done all that restart the Iphone and you should be on your way!

Not sure about other phones but i had to look up the manual settings for an IPhone

 

Select Settings

             > General

             > Network

             > Mobile Data Network

 

Mobile Data

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password 

 

Visual Voicemail

leave blank

 

MMS

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password

MMSC: http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc

Thanks for the setup details, using them gave me the ability to text but I still can't get Internet except through a Wifi connection ?

That's why settings to 2020 won't work. You will need to download the giffgaffAPN by paul_shirley in order to get the internet to work on your phone.

 

Connect to Wi-Fi and download it from the Google Play store. Once downloaded, install and reboot your phone. Should work then.
