Not the clearest of photos but here's where I've used a small screw in eye from a picture hanging kit to stow some aerial cables. It's just screwed into the wooden bracket holding the desk up, then I looped a wire sandwitch tie through the eye and around the cables, makes it dead easy to swap out or add new cables.
Just a tip when using these wire ties, check them for rusting as the last thing you want to do is jab yourself with a rusty bit of wire. I keep any leftovers each time we open a new pack of food bags but discard any that show signs of rust just in case. Safety first
Great idea, thanks for sharing. I tend to only find rubber bands after they've perished and stuck to things . but I
A good source of new decent Rubber bands is on pavements.Yeh I know it sounds strange but I've picked up loads off the street when walking to shopping. It baffled me for a while why so many new rubber bands were on the Pavement and then it dawned on me and was confirmed when I saw a posty untaffle a pack of letters as they walked down my street and many times the Rubber band they have wrapped up a bundle would fall to the ground.
Crazy but have a look next time you go for a walk
Finally got round to wall mounting the wifi router so that gave me an excuse to break out the double sided stickies and the sandwitch bag wire ties
Keep the backing paper on one side of the stickie, place the wire tie where you want to stow cable and stick it in place, then you can drop the cable onto the non sticky side and wrap the wire tie round the cable to hold it in place. To add more cables or swap some out just undo the wire tie, simple as that
I also had to run a couple of cables along the top of the backboard to my desk, this spot is tricky to screw ties to so I just placed a couple of these stickies along it to stop the cables drooping.
So now the router and cables are nicely stowed and up off the desk freeing up some space for whatever I next start fiddling with
@cass905 If I can get into the Upcycle thread later I can repost some of these pics there if you think they'll suit.
@dtuxcomp I simply love these such a smart idea for up cycling plastic as you know I used your idea and now my cable lighting looks fab! Please feel free to post this on the new up cycle thread
@cass905 When I get a sec I'll dig out the pics and post some of them, now we've got your thread back up and running. You'll have to post the pics of your cable lighting when you can get your tablet working
