When sending an SMS simply type *0# at the start of the message. When the other phone receives your text you'll get a FREE automatic alert letting you know the delivery was successful. This is handy if you're not sure whether the other phone is switched on or in coverage. This works for texts from your Giffgaff phone to any network, and the *0# won't be seen in the text the other person receives.

Everyone should have at least one phone on giffgaff Robot wink

BUT...that setting will not work with O2/Tesco/giffgaff...

The ONLY way to have Delivery Reports is by using the *0# shortcode.

These work on all networks. They provide a text message when pending and sent.

I know with O2 that it would take 2 texts from a bundle for this service.

Beware GiffGaff may charge 8p for delivery. I will have to check on this tho.

If you think this post has been helpful, don't forget to kudos Smiley Happy

I'm struggling here to work out what "these" you are referring to.

If you are trying to suggest that the switchable receipt options coded into many telephones work on all networks then you are wrong.  They do not work on O2 and giffgaff, and since that is a function of the way SMS are handled by O2 (and thus giffgaff), that's just how it is.

From giffgaff, you simply start your SMS with the three characters *0# as ragnorak explained at the head of this topic and that will work.

Your guesstimated charge seems flawed as well.  SMS cost 4p with giffgaff so why would delivery receipts be charged at 8p, assuming they were charged at all ?
