How to get the most out of Black Friday 2017

By Toxiic

Black Friday: it's the time of year when you can snap up a discounted price on items you've been longing for. It can be difficult keeping track of the best deals, your spending and going over the top. Consequently, here's 11 Black Friday and Cyber Monday tips to get the best out of the day.

NOTE: Purple = Content included in 24.11.17 gaff.

  • Check HotUKDeals, this website incorporates a wide following from deal hunters – so there’s likely to be many deals for Black Friday you may not have seen. Keep checking back at the 'New Deals' section so you have the best chance of buying up the deals you want before many others see it on the website.

  • Be sure to use price tracking websites like CamelCamelCamel in order to see if the deal is a good one. These websites help give you a graph of the price throughout a period of time. You can then see if the price your looking at is a good deal, or just a re-occuring discount.

  • Check the homepages of the websites taking part in Black Friday. This will usually bring up the best deals the website has to offer – although good deals can still be found by delving into the section where all the deals are listed.

  • Don’t be pressured into buying items because it’s only a limited time offer. This is what businesses on Black Friday want to do to make the money – buy the item if you want to.

  • If you’re planning to spend quite a bit on a few/many items, check for voucher codes out there and you could save even more. You can do this by googling the name then adding ‘voucher codes’.

  • Make a list of the items you want to buy and the price you want to pay. This will help keep track of spending.

  • Check Groupon. Often Groupon is hot on the deals leading up and on Black Friday – so you should have a good chance of snatching a good’n.

  • Wowcher can contain great deals leading up to and on Black Friday. RRP are cut short and there’s an array of different items on it’s website to deal (Smiley Very Happy) with everyone’s Black Friday needs.

  • Keep an eye out for too-good-to-be-true deals. It’s not worth saving money in return for negative consequences during sales like Black Friday.

  • Check cashback sites like TopCashBack and Quidco to lower the price of the item even more and gain a percentage of the money you’re going to spend back.

Think you've seen a good deal or have some other money saving tips to share? Why not post them on the Hot Deals and Tips board on the giffgaff website...
