Not exactly sure if this is the right place but couldn't see anything that looked quite right. I'm currently using a Nexus 5 which has been pretty decent but is kind of on it's last legs a bit now. Looking to replace it with something up to maybe £300ish. I haven't really kept up with phone tech and there are a fair few more viable brands than since i was last looking. Having a quick scan around, the Honor 10 looks like a good option but not entirely sure about the whole Huawei/Honor security thing. My friend that moved from a Nexus 5 as well has a OnePlus now that he seems to like which avoids any potential security issues (that I'm aware of) but doesn't look to be quite as good for the money.
A couple of other things that I was thinking about was 5G and size. Part of me would like to hold out for a 5G phone but I'm assuming they're not going to be sensible money for a long time yet. Size wise everything just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. I like the size of the nexus but it looks like i might be restricting myself quite a lot if i just stick with smaller phones. I'm not looking for anything in particular such as gaming or super camera quality, just an all rounder sort of thing, although the camera really was something that held the nexus back so it'd be nice to get an improvment on that. Anyone got any advice/recommendations? Thanks
I’d highly reccomend checking out xiaomi on gearbest. Something like a: https://m-uk.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_693218.html?wid=1433363 is an amazing phone at an unbelievable price!
I just found out today you dont even need to get it through gearbest anymore, you can go straight to Mi themesleves for a phone.
if you want the best phone for internals and build quality with pure "Android One" then I strongly reccommend the Mi A2 https://www.mi.com/uk/mi-a2/ this thing is amazing for that price
Thanks for the info guys. The Mi A2 is interesting. I like the idea of Android One as it'd be more what i'm used to with the nexus and less junk piled on there by manufacturers. It basically comes out at the same price as the Honor 10 though as far as i can tell when going for comparable storage and apart from the OS, I can't really see what's better with the A2 to be honest.
