WhatsApp have succumbed to the pressure in respect of multiple messaging on their platform.

From today you will be stopped and limited from forwarding the same message more than 5 times, globally, after testing in India.

One potential way of resisting the change is to reject WhatsApp updates.

The WhatsApp update started on Monday (21 January) for Android users.

The entire rollout is predicted to affect 1.5 billion WhatsApp users, eventually.

I saw this in the news, something about stopping the spread of 'fake news'.

The initial 6 month trial in India was certainly linked to the rapid spread of false rumours Dez, some of the rumours had seen hysteria led killings.

Following the success of the trial, in India, the message limit restriction, has been extended globally from this month.

Interestingly, the restriction can only be applied during your next App update, as it rolls out across the World. So it would seem that WhatsApp's globally imposed restriction effectiveness will be gradual but far reaching, over time.

I suppose the company does have to run this as they see fit. I use the app myself but mainly to keep in touch with family.

I'm sure there will be more affected people than myself.

This must be something they are implementing because they are seeing a growing trend of misuse. As with all trends this is probably just the start of updates that will affect many people. Time will tell I suppose.
