Having been giving an iPhone XS Max by giffgaff to review for a couple of days, I’ve been able to put the pedal to the metal (and glass) and test drive this phone. Some of you may very well know that my personal device is an iPhone SE, so this is a big step up for me in terms of size.
Who Needs To Carry Around an iPad Mini?!
The iPhone XS Max has a huge 6.5-inch screen and I must admit it did take some getting used to coming from such a compact smartphone, but after getting used to it, I’d say it is not too big at all. It has the exact same footprint as an iPhone 6s Plus, 7 Plus and 8 Plus so for those of you considering upgrading to the iPhone SX Max will be familiar with this size of a smartphone. The display is bright, vibrant and crystal clear and in my mind, has the best displays of any smartphone I have used so far. There is no need to carry your tablet or laptop during your commute as this iPhone will do just fine.
It’s a Road Runner!
Come on guys this is an iPhone, need I say more? Apple has it locked in speed and performance. This iPhone sports Apples A12 Bionic chip which is so far ahead of the competition. Applications, app switching is very fast and fluid. I did experience a couple of apps randomly closing but these were all third party and this is probably due to some developers not yet optimising their apps for the bigger iPhone.
A Battery Beast!
The battery life on this phone is unbelievable! Since I’ve used it, the battery hasn’t died on me. I’m able to get nearly two days of battery life from normal usage. I watch a movie on Amazon Prime, watch a couple of clips on YouTube, check my Twitter and Instagram, read and respond to emails and take phones and record videos. The battery life is surely one of its standout features for me.
This year Apple has added advanced blur and depth control to the iPhone which gives budding photographers more options to get the shot they desire. You’re able to take a portrait photo and adjust the blur after it has been taken. Check out some of my shots below. (Stay tuned for a full in-depth camera review)
Not a Big Upgrade Over Last Years iPhone X
Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone XS Max is a fantastic phone, its just that there isn’t really anything that wows me about this device and would say to save your money unless you are a power user and need an iPhone with a much larger screen.
