I'm switching to Giffgaff from Tesco's budget pay-as-you-go tariff, Tesco Lite.  Here is a summary of comparisons.

Voice calls: Tesco Lite 8p per min, Giffgaff 8p per min

Voicemail retrieval: Tesco Lite 8p per min, Giffgaff 8p per call

Texts: Tesco Lite 4p each, Giffgaff 4p each

Picture messages:  Tesco Lite 25p each, Giffgaff 16p each

30 MB of data in one day: Tesco Lite £120 (£4 per MB), Giffgaff 50p (and up to 100 MB per day for FREE until the end of October)

Yep, the real clincher is the cost for data!  And if you want proof, information for Tesco Lite is available here: http://www.tesco.com/mobilenetwork/content.aspx?page=83

And the pricing for Giffgaff is here:  http://giffgaff.com/index/pricing

According to the link, Tesco Lite isn't even available to new customers. So if that's their 'best value', then it certainly isn't going to be able to compete with GiffGaff.

+ unlimited = unlimited on bundles.
+ you get paid for forum posting.
+ you get paid for bringing people to gg.
+ free gg to gg messaging/calling.
+ free Twitter texting.

It all adds up! ;D

I don't think any other network will be able to compete on data Smiley Happy

you can actually buy a weekly 2.50 internet bundle with tescolite you would need to speak to customer services to get it added if you cant do it through bundle line.

What about  http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/help-and-support/call-charges-payg-litetariff.aspx   compared with  http://giffgaff.com/index/pricing  ?  Tesco Lite seem cheaper on calls and text.

No, giffgaff increased their PAYG prices last September that's true. Overall giffgaff is still much better value though Smiley Happy. Resurrecting 20 months old threads is generally not helpful though - unless there is a very good reason Smiley Wink

My 'very good reason' is that I'm trying to decide whether to stay with TESCO when my contract ends or move to GiffGaff. I think you've just made my mind up for me.
